CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter includes the set of methods or specific procedures that will be utilized to

identify, process, measure, analyze information that are needed for the study. This part also helps

the researcher to gain understanding with how the study will be conducted.

A. Research Design

This study uses a phenomenological research design which utilized in qualitative

research. The researcher will employ utilization of phenomenological research design in

conducting the study. Phenomenological research design requires the researcher to bracket a

prior assumption they have about the experience or phenomenon. In simpler terms, researchers

use phenomenological research designs to understand a phenomenon's universal nature by

exploring the views of those who have experienced it.

Research design intends to provide an appropriate framework for a study. The decision of

choosing the right approach for the research design process is to be given utmost importance as it

determines how relevant information will be obtained for the study to be conducted by the

researchers.

A. Participants of the Study

The respondents of this research are limited to students of Malinao School for Philippine

Craftsmen under the learning modality. The selected respondents will answer an online

questionnaire provided by the researcher.

B. Research Instrument
This study will use a questionnaire adapted and modified accordingly by the researcher

from a study that assesses the perception of parents to the expansion of limited face to face

classes as the data collection instrument. Questionnaire provides a way to gather large amounts

of data on any subject and it is a practical way to gather data as they can be targeted to

appropriate groups of your choice and can be managed in different ways.

The data will be gathered and collected through an online questionnaire approach as it

provides convenience not only for the researcher but also to the respondents, especially now that

people are not permitted to go outside. The respondents can also decide whenever and wherever

it is convenient for them to answer the questionnaire. They can also take as much time as they

need to respond to the questions given. Online questionnaires build a better response rate to each

item as the researchers can make certain questions required to be answered first in order to

advance to the following items. Since the questionnaire asks for confidential information such as

the grades of students, a consent form will be placed before the online questionnaire that the

respondents could read and choose whether they would like to proceed with it or not.

C. Data Gathering Procedure

At the beginning of the data collection for the study, the researchers will ask permission

from the administration of Malinao School for Philippine Craftsmen, where respondents study

from. The researchers will also seek the consent of the respondents’ respective advisers before

conducting the data gathering. The intended research and its purpose will be explained to them.

Once permission is granted, the researchers will look now for respondents.

In observance of standard health protocol implemented by the Department of Health, the

data collection method that will be used for the study is an online questionnaire. The actual data
gathering will happen through the utilization of Google Forms. The link of the form that includes

the questionnaire, along with the consent form, will be sent to the respondents through the social

media platform, Facebook.
