Introductory Paragraph of Chapter 2
Sample:
This chapter presents the research method of the study. It includes discussion on the research design
and research methods covering the research environment, research participants, research instrument, data
gathering procedure, data analysis, and Ethical Consideration in doing research.

Research Design
1. The specific qualitative research design is indicated.
2. The specific qualitative research design is indicated.

Sample:
This study will employ qualitative research, with a case study methodology being used in particular.
Because the Researcher is looking into how school leaders and teachers designing and implementing the
learning continuity plan for Kindergarten Program during the pandemic, she chooses to utilize a
qualitative research approach and conduct en empirical study. A case study is an intensive, holistic
description and analysis of a single, bounded phenomenon such as a program, an institution, a person, a
process, or a social unit. Merriam (1998) focuses on qualitative data collection methods, data have
usually been derived from interviews, field observations, and documents. In addition to a tremendous
amount of data, this range of data sources may present disparate, incompatible, even apparently
contradictory information. The researcher can be seriously challenged in trying to make sense out of the
data.
Using the Merriam method to category aggregation would allow the researcher to seek patterns, assign
meaning to the participation data, and perhaps develop themes for this case study. The researcher
believes that the Merriam technique is an excellent instrument for thoroughly examining this research
through online/face-to-face interviews, observations, and record analysis.

1
Research Environment
Describe the target locale of the study. If a municipality/district/school, then include information on the
locale that is relevant to the topic. May include vicinity map.

Sample:
This study will be conducted in the Municipality of Payao of Zamboanga Sibugay. This district has a
total of 124 kindergarten teachers and 16 school heads. The researcher believes that the study is relevant
to the research environment since school heads and teachers have managed it during pandemic.

Research Participants
It includes the Material/Specimen for non-humans.

1. The number of prospective participants is based on the standards of the research design.
2. There is a description of how the target participants are purposefully selected based on the
phenomenon of interest.
3. The inclusion (and exclusion) criteria for selecting the participants are indicated.

Sample:
The participants of the study will be the school heads in the mentioned research environment revisiting
their learning continuity plan during the pandemic. There will be 13 participants to be selected through
purposive sampling. These thirteen school heads will come from the nearest public elementary and
primary schools of the Division of Zamboanga Sibugay. The entire list will consider choosing the
research participants, thus, leaders who designed and implemented the plan during pandemic.
The researcher purposively chooses the Payao South District elementary school heads, who will be
chosen with these inclusion criteria: 1. At least 3 years in service as a school head, and; 2. Must not be
affected or quarantined due to COVID-19 pandemic this year; and, 3. Have to face different adjustments
in the new normal.

Research Instrument
Describe what instrument/s will be used in your study.]
1. The interview questions are aligned with the central and sub-questions of the proposed study.
[Attach the instruments at the appendices.]

Sample:
The researcher will consider herself as the primary research instrument aided by an interview guide,
observation, and record analysis to gather data for the study. The participants’ interview responses will
serve as preliminary data to which is subject to analysis and interpretation. The instrument will focus on
soliciting reactions about the roles, challenges, and measures from the participants’ experiences
regarding the specific questions or problems that usher the researcher in obtaining the primary data on
the learning continuity plan for kindergarten program during the pandemic.

2
Data Gathering Procedure
(Actual gathering of data, indicate the steps)
1. The general technical procedures described in the paper follow the standards of the qualitative
research design.

Sample:
The Researcher will observe the following steps. First, the Researcher will write a formal letter to the
school’s division superintendent to conduct the study. Next, she will report the same to the district
supervisor of Payao District about the purpose and conduct of the survey to solicit approval for the
administration of the research instrument to concerned school heads and teachers. Then, responses to
serving data have analyzed. As to observing the data gathering techniques, health protocols must
perform.

Data Analysis
Describe what types of data are gathered and how these will be analyzed.

1. The proposed data analytic strategy is discussed with emphasis on the process of abstraction.
2. The appropriateness of the proposed data analytic strategy is explained.
(Cite authorities for your data analysis used.)

Sample:
Through the use of the approach of Merriam (1998), the data is subject to analysis. From Merriam’s
point of view, analysis is the deconstruction of data and impressions; it then entails giving meaning to
the part. As such, Merriam’s categorical aggregation (clustering data into categories or classes to ease
the search for meaning) analyses data by establishing patterns and even themes based on the interview.
This approach realizes through content analysis.

Thus, the data will analyze through thematic analysis, which leads the Researcher to identify patterns
and connections. Once the data is finish, the research can start identifying themes, looking for the most
common responses to questions, identifying data or patterns that can answer the research questions.

Ethical Considerations
Asking Permission to conduct the study is part of the Ethical Considerations.

Describe how ethics in research will be ensured. Enumerate the considerations and what measures are
applied to ensure the observance of ethics.

Sample:
The study will use shared information from Lewis, (2016) to observe ethical considerations in
conducting research. The following parameters will need to have to be in the study:
Informed consent. It is the communication sent to the individuals who decided to be participants of the
study. Its goal is for human volunteers to engage in research freely after receiving complete information
about what it entails for them to participate and giving their agreement before doing so.
Voluntary participation. There should be coercion; willingness is one factor in research participation. In
practice, this implies that potential research volunteers must be thoroughly informed about the processes
and hazards associated with the study before agreeing to participate.
Confidentiality. All responses of the participants must be for the research only. Breach of
confidentiality jeopardizes the research’s confidence and reputation and, in the long run, makes it harder
to participate in research in the future.
Anonymity. No names of the participants are divulged to others to ensure that their identity is hidden.
Researcher uses a variety of techniques to keep their participants’ identities hidden. First and foremost,
they protect their data by using password-protected files, encryption when transferring data over the
internet, and even old-fashioned closed doors and drawers.
