Course Introduction

 This course Develop an understanding of


the components of computing and their
relationships, significant impacts of IT
disciplines on society, fundamentals of
programming structures, basic modules
and functions of operating system,
enterprise and Internet business
applications, and the basics of network
architectures, protocols and security,
basics on AI and expert systems.

 By the completion of this course, the student will be able to:
 1. Recognize the basics of the components of computing and their
relationships.
 2. Recognize the fundamentals of programming structures, basic modules
and functions of operating system
 3. Recognize the basic modules and functions of operating system
 4. Explain the basics of network architectures, protocols and security and
the idea of cloud computing.
 5. Explain the basics of AI and expert systems
 6. State the enterprise and Internet business applications .
 7. State the basics of Mobile computing and Data warehousing.
 8. Describe multimedia data, its representation.

 ABET Student Outcome:


1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of
computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions
 2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a
given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s
discipline.
 6. Identify and analyze user needs and to take them into account in the
selection, creation, integration, evaluation, and administration of
computing-based systems. [IT]

 There is NO makeup exam for the missed
first or second midterm
◦ Unless you provide an excuse document accepted
by the Head of the Information Systems
Department.
◦ Document should be submitted to the Instructor
within one week from the Midterm’s date.
◦ Attend a comprehensive exam at the end of the
semester that covers all Chapters

 There is NO makeup exam for missed quizzes
