Question 1:
Define the following terms:
- Hydrograph - Groundwater
- Aquiclude - Aquifuge
- Aquifer - Confined Aquifer
- Unconfined Aquifer

Question 2:
State the advantages and disadvantages of the underground storage.

Question 3:
What are the types of Aquifers? Support your answer with drawings.

Question 4:
Classify the water inside the soil?

Question 5:
A 30 cm well penetrates 50 m below the static water table. After a long period of pumping at a rate of 0.0208
𝑚3 /𝑠𝑒𝑐, the drawdown in the wells at 15 m and 45 m from the pumped well were 1.70 m and 0.80 m
respectively. Determine:
1- Hydraulic conductivity.
2- At what distance from the center of the pumped well will the drawdown equal to 1.20 m.
𝑟𝑤 =0.15m
R

ℎ𝑤 ℎ𝑜 =50 m

Question 6:
For a field pumping test, a well was sunk through a horizontal stratum of sand 20 m thickness and underlain
by aclay stratum. Two observation wells were sunk at horizontal distance of 16 m and 34 m respectively from
the pumping well. The initial position of the water table was 3 m below ground level. At a steady state pumping
rate of 1850 lit/min, the drawdowns in the observation wells were found to be 2.6 m and 1.3 m respectively.
Calculate the coefficient of permeability of the sand.

Question 7:
Calculate the radius of the effective circle of a 60 cm diameter well penetrate a 60 m thickness confined aquifer,
the water level in the well decreases due to pumping by 3m, gives a discharge 0.04 m3/sec, the hydraulic
conductivity is 25 m/day.
