LYMPHOID ORGANS

Let’s repeat!
Lymphoid organs- Roles
TONSIL: stops and annihilates microorganisms that can cause infections in the body
The tonsils-> crypts-> require good oral hygiene. Otherwise, food debris and bacteria
accumulate in the crypts and become infected
Tonsil infection-> tonsillectomy

LYMPH NODES: at their level the lymph is filtered by possible antigens, cytokines or
other cells that are presented to the cytotoxic B, T helper or T lymphocytes,
contributing to the initiation of the immune response.

THYMUS GLAND: lymphopoiesis through the synthesis of T lymphocytes involved in

cellular immunity.

SPLEEN: blood filtration provided by the large number of macrophages contained in

the splenic parenchyma.
