ORT Braude College is a higher education institution for engineering, technology, applied
mathematics, and related sciences. ORT Braude is a natural partner for the World ORT
STEM Summer School, an institute named after World ORT’s first professional Director
General, Max Braude.
Since its foundation in 1989 the College has played a critical role in helping students from
diverse nationalities and backgrounds to train for science, technology and engineering
careers in Israel. Today ORT Braude College has established itself as a leading educational
institution with strong academic and industrial ties in the Galilee, throughout Israel, and
around the world.
For twenty years, the Science-Oriented Youth Center at ORT Braude College of Engineering
has been a regional center for scientific education. The Center provides for youth with an
interest in science and engineering and enables them to expand and develop their
knowledge and skills in various fields of STEM.
OUR PROGRAM GOALS
The World ORT International STEM Summer School aims to provide the ORT network’s most
gifted students with an opportunity to spend three weeks receiving a unique, profound
learning experience in Israel. They will work alongside distinguished Israeli scientists while
enjoying a rich Jewish and cultural experience in Israel. Students from all over the world will
discover why Israel has established its reputation for tech entrepreneurship, meeting some
of the country’s best scientists and visiting research institutes that nurture Israel’s talent.
The program will explore applied scientific disciplines that are beyond the scope of the
typical school classroom, and stimulate students’ minds with challenging projects beyond
the limits of their school curriculum. The Summer School will give them opportunities to carry
out experiments in laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment, and give them tools for
creative, entrepreneurial, technological and "out-of-box" thinking.
Students will develop their research and presentation skills through hands-on research
projects from a range of scientific fields together with insights into how research is linked
practically into everyday life. Research projects will help students learn to collaborate and to
create closer links with their peers from different countries who share similar interests in
science and technology. The STEM Summer School will help these exceptional students in
their personal development, building leadership skills and encouraging social responsibility.
ACCOMMODATION
While studying at the ORT Braude College, students will be staying at the youth hostel in the
nearby Druze village of Peqi’in, a quiet location at the top of the Upper Galilee, close to the
Mount Meron reservation.
The hostel has air conditioning throughout, shower and bathrooms in each dormitory,
electrical and USB sockets, TV and coffee. Free Internet access is available, and students will
be staying in shared, single-sex dormitories which are cleaned daily. There are plenty of
classrooms and other areas to socialise. Kosher, buffet-style breakfast and dinner is
provided each day.
During the weekends, students will visit Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, where we will provide guided
tours, social and cultural activities. We will have activities to celebrate Shabbat for the
whole group, but students who would like to observe Shabbat strictly and attend
synagogue services will be taken care of.
