Modes and Approaches to Assessment:

Students will complete a pre-assessment before starting the unit. For formative

assessments, students would be assessed in multiple ways, such as an introduction to budgeting

worksheet and the various Banzai worksheets we did. Outside of formative assessments,

students were also assessmed by how the discussions in class went along with the summative

assessment of making a monthly budget based on their assigned jobs.

Scoring Procedures:

Students are primarily graded using a rubric specifically designed for that assessment.

Students were told about the grading procedures verbally. With the summative assessment, they

were given a physical copy of the rubric as well as being told verbally. These rubrics were also

available on Google Classroom so the students could have access at home for the students to see.

Grading is on a scale of 0-100 and certain assignments were weighted heavier based on their

difficulty. Student behavior in class was graded as Habits of Work (HOW). These were assessed

during class time as well as based on how they completed their homework. When looking at the

HOW for the summative and worksheets, this would determine if the students would be given

the opportunity to revise the assignments.

Personal Communication:

Students were expected to contact me if they wanted to revise their assessments. For

summative assessments, if the student received below a 75 they were able to revise their grade

up to a 90. This helped build the students' self-advocacy and their communication skills. The

students were also encouraged to give me feedback on the lessons done in class by either writing

me a note or coming to me and talking with me about what could be altered or what went well.
