By Group 4 & 8: Deriada, De Rosas, Del Carmen, Deloso, Doños, Quijardo, Salvaloza, &
Tito.

ACTIVITY: “MEASURE IT”

Get a ruler and measure the following by centimeters (cm):
1. Distance from the ground to your navel
2. Distance from your navel to the top of your head
3. Distance from the ground to your knees
4. Length of your hand
5. Distance from your wrist to your elbow
6. Distances A, B, and C as indicated in the figure

ANSWERS:

EXPLANATION:
1. We manually measured the body proportions using the standard measurement
tape, so we could get the right measurements that we need to calculate the
ratios.
2. We observe how the golden ratio is perceived in the human body. Most of the
ratios that we calculated are under the standard of the golden ratio which is
1.61803. We also noticed that each section of your index finger, from the tip to
the base of the wrist, is larger than the preceding one by about the Fibonacci
ratio of 1.618.

APPLICATION:
Direction: In a short bond paper, find the nth Fibonacci number using the Binet
formula.
1. n = 14
2. n = 22
3. n = 20
4. n = 25
5. n = 50

ANSWERS:
1. F14 = 376.9 / 377
2. F22 = 17,710.5 / 17,711
3. F20 = 6,764.8 / 6,765
4. F25 = 75,024.9 / 75,025
5. F50 = 12, 586, 269, 025
