The Golden Ratio, also known as the Divine Proportion, Golden Section or Golden
Mean, denoted by j, is approximately equal to 1.618033988749895… There is a special
relationship between the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci numbers. If any two successive
Fibonacci Numbers are taken, their ratio approximates the Golden Ratio. One can observe
that the higher the numbers in the sequence, the closer they match the golden mean.
The main objective of this activity is to discover some proportions that appear closer
to the golden ration. Specifically, the student should be able to measure properly.
Materials: measuring devices (tape measure, ruler), calculator, writing devices, this
worksheet.
Procedure:
Measure the following and record your answers in the following table.

Note: Ask someone to take you a picture and insert below. Include captions of your pictures.
Now, calculate the following ratios:
1. Ask another person near you and measure the same. This will be used to compare your own
ratio with him/her. Can you see anything special about these ratios? Explain your
observations.
Based on my observations there is a big difference to my ratio as I comperes it on
others. Moreover, I identify some trends about set ratios on how important they are.
Such as we can use these ratios to create stylish clothes, sometimes they use this to
draw realistic-looking figures, among others. These ratios can also use in the medical
world; a sizable deviation from human body ratio can indicate a body that does not
develop according to expectations. There is a special relationship between the golden
ratio and the Fibonacci numbers. When there is any two successive Fibonacci numbers
we’re taken on their ratio which closely in the golden ratio. One can observe that the
higher the numbers in the sequence, the closer they match the golden mean. In
conclusion, the ratios are part of human’s identity because it quantifies our size, lengths,
and among others which prove that mathematics exists in all matter.
2. Among the different ratios present in my body, I obtain and come-up different
measurements. And through it, I’ve reach an approximate result from my ratio to the golden
mean. This ratio is found within the distance from my wrist to elbow and the length of my
hand, which has a ratio of 1.855.

3. From the results in the table, there is other that could resemble a golden ratio if modified. It
is found in the ratio of the distance from the ground to my belly button and the distance
from my belly button to the top of my head, and it has a ratio of 1.345. Moreover, we can
modify it when two successive Fibonacci numbers are taken whose ratio approximates the
golden ratio. We can further observe that the higher the numbers in the sequence, the
closer they match the golden mean. Hence, if we try to increase the numbers in the
sequence, we can achieve an approximate or exact end-result to the golden ratio.
