Coaching hubs like Mukherjee Nagar and Old Rajendra Nagar preparing candidates for

one of the toughest exams in India. It drives demand for rooms, food, cooks,
furniture, exam-study material, and almost everything that you see in these
markets. Abnormally high fee charging and a cash-rich IAS coaching industry have
spawned a mini-economy here.
Popular coaching centers such as Vajiram and Ravi, and Rau’s — the pioneers of the
civil services coaching trade — charge up to Rs 2 lakh and claim to have as many as
10,000 to 12,000 students on their rolls every year which makes up to about Rs. 300
crores which are just no more than a trailer. The movie is yet to come. These
coaching hubs drive demand for rooms, food, cooks, furniture, exam-study material,
and almost everything that you see in these markets. Abnormally high fee charging
and a cash-rich IAS coaching industry have spawned a mini-economy here.

If we look into a bit of stats here:

then though the sole revenue of coaching institutes is 300 crores the entire
coaching hubs are pegged up with an industry worth Rs 3,000 crore. The coaching
institutions are worth only, 300 crore/3000 crores * 100=10%, 10 percent of the
entire coaching ecosystem that they form around them.

But meanwhile, the online civil service coaching industry is also growing at a
steady rate. Till now having displaced 7.9% of the revenue of the coaching
institutions and lowered their revenue to approx, Rs 300 crores - (300
crores*7.9/100) = Rs 2,76,30,00,000, Rs 275 crores.
With both institutions growing alongside the growing competition in these
competitive exams, the coaching industry is only growing and growing.

For one of the most difficult exams in India, applicants are prepared in coaching
centers like Mukherjee Nagar and Old Rajendra Nagar. It drives demand for
practically everything you find in these markets, including accommodation, food,
cooks, furnishings, and exam study materials. Here, a mini-economy has developed as
a result of abnormally high fee billing and a lucrative IAS tutoring sector.
Popular coaching facilities like Vajiram and Ravi and Rau's, the pioneers of the
civil services coaching industry, charge up to Rs 2 lakh and advertise having up to
10,000 to 12,000 students on their registers annually, which comes to roughly Rs
300 crores, which is merely a trailer. The film is still to come. The demand for
rooms, food, cooks, furnishings, exam study materials, and practically everything
else that you find in these markets is driven by these coaching centers. Here, a
mini-economy has developed as a result of abnormally high fee billing and a
lucrative IAS tutoring sector.

If we look at certain statistics, we can see that even if coaching institutes only
generate 300 crores in revenue, the entire 100 coaching centers are linked to a Rs
3,000 crore sector. Only 10% of the coaching ecology that they create around
themselves goes to the coaching institutions, or
3000/3000 crores * 100=10%.

However, the online civil service coaching market is also expanding steadily in the
meantime. As of present, 7.9% of the coaching institutions' revenue has been lost,
bringing their total earnings down to roughly Rs 300 crores
(300 crores * 7.9/100 = Rs 2,763,00,000, Rs 275 crores).
The coaching sector is expanding as a result of the expansion of both institutions
and the competition in these competitive tests.
