Note-taking (also spelt note-taking or

note-taking) is the practise of


recording information from various
sources and platforms. By taking
notes, the writer captures the essence
of the information, relieving their
mind of the burden of recalling
everything.[1] Notes are frequently
taken from a transient source, such as
an oral discussion at a meeting or a
lecture (notes from a meeting are
usually referred to as minutes), and in
such cases, the notes may be the only
record of the event. Notes have
almost always been handwritten
(often in notebooks) since the
invention of writing and literacy, but
the introduction of notetaking
software has made digital notetaking
possible and widespread. Taking notes
is a fundamental skill in personal
knowledge management.
