Portfolio Reflection Essay

Another semester of school is done, and I am looking forward to what comes next. To be

honest, this semester has not been easy for me. In fact, it was difficult, and I found myself giving

up on a lot of assignments in all my classes. I tried salvaging anything I could and so far, things

are looking okay, not the best or as good as last semester but I am going to have to stick with it.

Working on my portfolio hasn’t really changed much if I am being honest, I have worked on

three portfolios, and it is not hard whatsoever. It is relaxing to say the least. Designing this new

website was not difficult, I kept the general layout and only changed title names and pictures and

some colors. This website is a little Transformers centered and looks great. The pictures on my

site really have nothing to do with the essay prompts but they look nice, and that is all that

matters to me. It is nice looking back at previous works and thinking of how much I have

grown.

Making revisions on my portfolio is required to do and that is why I have done so. I

would like to get the best grade possible. I see little errors I have made and correct them to the

best of my abilities. I sometimes extend whatever it is I am writing by adding additional

nonsense that adds little or nothing to what I am writing about. I do not know if it helps, but I

like to think that it does. As for the homework, I have not really done much this semester. If I am

being honest, however, what I have done I can say that it has been beneficial and a little boring.

Jokes aside, I have learned from doing some homework. One thing I learned from English that I

can apply to my other classes would be my writing in general. Like my sentence structuring and

making arguments and supporting whatever it is I am writing about. I found that it helped me a

lot in my political science or government class. In that class I had to write about current political

issues and all that nonsense. I found that what I have learned from English to be very beneficial

and made life easier.

In all of my classes this semester I do not think there was a class where I could not apply

what I learned from English to it. All of my classes had writing assignments and I owe it to

English 1302 for making it easier to deal with.

. My writing has changed drastically over the years and course of this semester. It has

changed in a rather positive way I might say. I am in no way a perfect writer; I still suffer from

some problems. I still find myself suffering from writer’s block and sometimes dread having to

write something. Luckily, I have seen progress and have been able to manage my writer’s block

in a way. Hopefully now that weakness is behind me. Writer’s block is one issue, however, there

is another problem. I occasionally make sentences or grammar errors, but it is not as bad as it

used to be. Issues that used to be like silver bullets or kryptonite are now small steps in my way

to becoming a better writer.

The most challenging part of designing the website would be the designing. The website I

use is a little bit of a pain to deal with sometimes. Text boxes or image boxes are formatted into

small boxes, and you really must go out of your way to make it the way you want. Also, the

themes are limited but thankfully they let you upload your own images. The least challenging

part was also oddly enough the designing in terms of what I wanted to add. I added pictures of

what I like, for example I have a big picture of Optimus Prime on my front page.

My identity as a writer has certainly changed from last semester to this semester. It is

nice to think of how far I have come and put a smile on my face knowing that I have grown and

am a little more confident in my writing abilities. I remember all the work I have done and

troubles I have gone through doing and not doing them. I enjoyed my semester and only wish

that my English class wasn’t only one day out of the week, but it was still nice. I look forward to

what comes next.
