Reflection Essay

I started this semester apprehensive about writing and just wanting to get this class over with.
However, this semester I learned a lot about technical writing techniques. I learned about the
design and prose of each type of document. I felt as though the information that I learned in this
class will benefit me later in my career. I believe that this class is essential for those whom plan
to work at a company.

Writing Development
At the beginning of the semester, I did not feel comfortable about my writing. Writing is not one
of my strong suits, so I was nervous. However, through the past month and a half, I began to feel
confident about my writing. I learned a lot about how to properly design each type of document
we learned how to write. I also discovered that my writing is not as bad as I originally thought.
One thing I wish I could improve up on is reaching the word count. I have problems drawing out
a topic and adding details. I always feel as though I am repeating myself.

Course Goals
Honestly, my goal for this class originally was to pass. More so, to get either an A or a B. I
believe that I reached my goal of getting a B. I am a little disappointed with myself that I did not
get an A. The reason that I did not reach my goal of an A is because of the lack of time I had
outside of class. Which is not on the professor, but on my schedule.

Assignments
The assignment I am most proud of is the Visualization Packet. I had fun when creating this
assignment. My only issue with this assignment is that I wish I had more time for the panoramas,
and I wish that I was able to take better pictures than I did. Also, I wish that my sink picture was
better, but since I did not have a way to keep the water in the sink my panorama was messed up.
If I could add an assignment, I would add a lab report. Lab reports are vital to my degree. Most
of my classes require me to write at least one lab report. I would have liked to learn how to
properly write and format a lab report. Such as when are visuals necessary and how much detail
should go into a lab report.
If I could edit any assignment, I would edit the Visualization Packet. While this was my favorite
assignment, I found it difficult to set aside time to take photos. Another issue that I have is that I
am restricted to the campus because of this my panoramas had to be taken on campus. In the end
my photos could not reflect my topic very well.
My least favorite assignment was the correspondence email. I felt that the word count was to
long for an inter-office email.

Conclusion
While I went into this class just to earn the credits for my degree, I learned a lot about different
writing techniques. I really enjoyed the Visualization Packet.
