5. RESPONSIBILITIES:

7.1.1.1 Cable trays and accessories shall be manufactured as per IEC 61357 and Site installation
as per SAES-P-104 & SAES-J-902. Main and secondary cables routing portions above
ground shall be in cable trays. Above ground routing is the preferred method for secondary

7.1.2.3 The Cable tray system shall be installed with the manufacturers standard fittings, clamps,
hangers, brackets, splice plates, reducer plates, blind ends, connectors, and grounding straps.

7.1.2.10 Location of supports for cable trays and ladder system shall be in accordance with the
recommendation of the manufacturer. Piping shall not be used to support cable trays and
Ladders.
7.1.2.11 Splices shall not be located over the supports, and shall be located between supports and
quarter points. No more than one splice shall be located between two adjacent supports.

Equipment and terminal enclosures, unless otherwise specified in other electrical standards shall meet
the requirements of SEAS-J-902 & SAES-P-104 and shall be suitable for the areas where they are
installed.
7.2.1 Enclosure for outdoor plant areas within perimeter of process units shall be (a) NEMA
250/NEMA ICS 6 Type 4; or (b) NEMA Type 3 manufactured copper free cast aluminum (0.4
of 1% maximum), or plastic (including fiberglass); or(c) IEC 60529 Type IP54 or better.
7.2.2 Other outdoor installation shall be (a) NEMA Type 3 or 4; or (b) IEC 60529 Type IP54 or
better.
7.2.3 For severe corrosive environment enclosure shall be (a) NEMA Type 4X (except galvanized
and/or painted or coated carbon steel sheet metal enclosures are not permitted); or (b) NEMA
plastic (including fiberglass); or (c) IEC 60529 Type IP 54 or better, manufactured of stainless
steel (Type 304 or better), copper free cast aluminum, or plastic (including fiberglass).
7.2.4 In outdoor Refinery and other industrial areas located in severe corrosive environments
equipment and terminal enclosures shall be degree of protection IP66 or better according to
IEC60529.
7.2.5 In outdoor non-industrial areas equipment and terminals shall have a degree of protection

7.2.9 The Instrument field junction box construction shall meet the following requirements:

Type 316 stainless steel body, door and hardware.
7.2.9.2
Continuously welded seams, finished smooth.

Hinge shall be made from the same materials as the box as per SAES-J-902

7.2.9.9 Painted steel panel (back pan) in severe corrosive environments a stainless-steel
panel shall be used.
7.2.9.10 All field junction boxes shall be mounted vertically i.e., the door shall open from
left to right or from right to left.
7.2.9.11 Enclosure’s drainage opening shall not less than 3.2mm in diameter or more than
6.4mm diameter, unless baffled or provided with drainage fittings.
7.2.9.12 All unused entry ports shall be fitted with approved plug as per SAES-J-902 sect:

7.2.9.13 Metal boxes and fittings shall be corrosion resistant or shall be well galvanized,
enamelled or otherwise properly coated inside and out to prevent corrosion.
7.2.9.14 Doors and covers of enclosures used solely as pull boxes, splice boxes, or
junction boxes shall be locked, bolted, or screwed on.
7.2.9.15 Increased safety (protection type 'e') motors and terminal boxes should comply as
per SAES-P-100, Para.8.6.
7.2.9.16 Explosion proof and flame proof cable glands are required for hazardous area in
accordance with IEC 60079, Para. 3.2
7.2.9.17 In Hazardous area all enclosed boxes and fittings should comply as per SAES- P-
100, Para 8.6.
8. QUALITY CONTROL
8.1.1 Request for inspection shall be issued for witness and hold points to CONTRACTOR/
SNAMPROGETTI E&C CO. LTD. Project inspection 24 hour in advance on week days and

and under any circumstances, to the offices, workshops, warehouses, and to any other
location where WORK is performed or where materials and/or documents concerning the
