INTRODUCTION

 Sri Lanka is an island country in South Asia.


 Located in the Indian Ocean southwest of the Bay of
Bengal and southeast of the Arabian Sea.
 Separated from the Indian subcontinent by the Gulf
of Mannar and the Palk Strait.
 Rich cultural heritage. Great strategic importance.

 Trade in luxury goods and spices
 Nations composition of population: Sinhalese,
Tamils, Moors, Bughers, Malays, Chineese and
Vedda.
 The 22 million people of Sri Lanka have been
exposed to grave economic crisis with soring
inflation and daily power that lasts for 13 hours. In
the absence of governance and rule of law, Sri Lanka
moves toward a failed state.
 The government imposed a state of emergency,
curfew and a ban on social media in response to
mass demonstrations and public outrage against
President Gotabaya Rajapaksha’s regime.
