Malawi

Malawi, officially the Republic of Malawi, is a landlocked country located in southeastern


Africa. It is bordered by Tanzania to the northeast, Zambia to the northwest, and
Mozambique to the east, south, and west. Lilongwe is the capital city, while Blantyre is the
largest city and economic center. Lake Malawi, one of Africa's Great Lakes, dominates the
country's eastern border and is known for its biodiversity. Malawi is characterized by diverse
landscapes, including plateaus, mountains, and ferGle plains.

The country's economy relies heavily on agriculture, with a significant porGon of the
populaGon engaged in farming. Malawi faces challenges related to poverty, healthcare, and
educaGon, but it has made progress in improving these areas in recent years. Lake Malawi,
with its clear waters and unique fish species, is a major tourist aJracGon, contribuGng to the
country's growing tourism industry.

Malawi is a democraGc republic with a mulG-party poliGcal system. It gained independence


from BriGsh colonial rule in 1964 and has since experienced periods of poliGcal stability and
change. The country is known for its warm and friendly people and a rich cultural heritage
that includes vibrant music and dance tradiGons.
