DISTRIBUTING STATION (MACHINE 1)

The Distributing station is a feed device. According to VDI 3240, feed devices are defined as units which fulfil the function of
bunkering, sorting and feeding of components. In addition, feed devices can facilitate the sorting of components according to
various sorting characteristics (shape, weight etc. of the component).

1. Single valve connector with AS-Interface

2. Diffuse sensors with AS-Interface
3. CP valve terminal with AS-Interface

Stack magazine module

The Stack magazine module separates workpieces from a magazine. Up to 8
workpieces can be stacked in any order in the magazine barrel. The workpieces
must be inserted with the open side facing upwards.
Changer module
The Changer module is a pneumatic handling device. Workpieces are picked up
using a suction cup and transferred by means of a rotary drive. The swiveling
range is adjustable between 0° and 180° by means of mechanical end stops.

1. Profile plate 4. Socket head screw M6x10 (4x)

2. T-head nut M6 x-32 (4x) 5. Screw 3.5x9 (2x)
3. Trolley 6. Control console

SORTING STATION (MACHINE 2)

4.
According to VDI 2860, sorting is a hyponym of the handling function “change quantity”. The conveyor is equipped with
branches for the purpose of sorting the workpieces. Various deflectors are set, depending on the workpiece.

The detection module

The detection module is capable of verifying the presence of red, black and
metallic workpieces. The detection module detects the material or the color of
the workpieces by means of 3 proximity sensors with digital output.

The conveyor module

The conveyor module can be mounted on a profile plate, a profile foot or
a slotted mounting frame. The DC motor is freely positionable. The
conveyor module is suitable for transporting and separating workpieces
with a diameter of 40 mm (e.g. “basic body” or “cylinder for assembly”
workpiece sets).

The chute module

The chute module is used to transport or store the workpieces. The module is
suitable for universal use thanks to its variably adjustable inclination and
height. If the mechanical stopper has been mounted, 5 workpieces fit onto the
chute. Three chute modules are used in the sorting station. Workpieces arriving
on the conveyor module are stored on the chute module.

ASSEMBLY STATION (MACHINE 3)

The Assembly station works together with the Robot station. It supplies the components of the cylinder for the assembly
process:

• A double-acting cylinder pushes the cylinder caps out of the stack magazine.

• The pistons are available on a pallet.

• A double-acting cylinder pushes the springs out of a slim magazine.

Spring magazine module

By means of the Spring magazine module springs are separated from a gravity-
feed magazine. The spring is part of the workpiece for assembly (single-acting
cylinder). The spring is moved to the transfer point by means of a double-
acting cylinder which operates a slide. At the transfer point the spring is
detected by an electrical limit switch.

Slide module
The Slide module is used to transport or store the workpieces. This module can be
applied universally thanks to its variably adjustable inclination and height. 6
workpieces can be accommodated on the slide if the mechanical stopper is fitted.

The cap magazine module

The Cap magazine module separates workpieces from a gravity-feed
magazine. The cap of the workpiece for assembly is transferred to a transfer
point. Up to 10 caps can be stacked in the magazine barrel. The caps must be
inserted with the flat surface facing upwards.

Pallet module
The Pallet module is used to provide pistons with two different
diameters. The piston is part of the workpiece for assembly (single-
acting cylinder).
ROBOT STATION (MACHINE 4)

Handling is a subfunction of material flow. Additional subfunctions are conveying and storing. According to VDI 2860,
handling is the creation, defined changing or temporary maintaining of a specified spatial arrangement of geometrically
determined bodies.

Retainer module
The workpieces are inserted via a slide into the Retainer module. The workpieces are
detected in the retainer by an optical reflex light sensor.
