Questions 1–3 refer to the following recorded
message and schedule.

Hello, Mr. Windsor. This is Tina Sheldon calling

from the Gilmore Institute. I wonder if you’re
still available to teach this semester. One of our
instructors has become ill and needs to take this
semester off. We therefore need a teacher for our
oil painting class. I immediately thought of you
since you mentioned you’d like to try teaching
when we met at the art exhibit last month. Would
you please call me back at 631-5057 when you have
the opportunity? I need to know if you’re able to do
the class. If you can’t, I’ll have to ask someone else.
Thank you. Goodbye.

Questions 4–6 refer to the following excerpt from a

meeting and graph.

I’d like to talk about our performance last year. In

the first quarter, our sales were about the same
as they were in the first quarter of the previous
year. Our revenues increased by 25% in the second
quarter though. That happened thanks to all the
new stores that we opened in Europe. We had
hoped sales would increase in the third quarter,
but they didn’t. They actually dropped slightly. But
they recovered in the fourth quarter thanks to the
booming American economy. In fact, our revenues
in the fourth quarter set a record for the company.
