This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to
help you master the Install and Configure Computer System (Install Operating
System). The scope of this module permits it to be used in many different
learning situations. The language used recognizes the diverse vocabulary level
of students. The lessons are arranged to follow the standard sequence of the
course. But the order in which you read them can be changed to correspond
with the textbook you are now using.

The module is divided into three lessons, namely:

• Lesson 1 – Install and configure of peripherals devices manually
• Lesson 2 - Install and configure of peripherals devices using DriverPack
solution.

After going through this module, you are expected to:

installation procedures and to comply with end-user requirements.

What is It

Device Driver
A device driver is a particular form of software application that is designed to
enable interaction with hardware devices. Without the required device driver, the
corresponding hardware device fails to work.
A device driver usually communicates with the hardware by means of the
communications subsystem or computer bus to which the hardware is connected.
Device drivers are operating system-specific and hardware-dependent. A device
driver acts as a translator between the hardware device and the programs or
operating systems that use it.

A device driver may also be called a software driver.

Manual Update Drivers in Windows 7
Follow these steps to manually update Windows 7 drivers:

Step 1: Go to the ‘Start’ button and open the Menu option.

Step 2: Right-click ‘This PC’ (name of the computer) and select ‘Properties.

Step 3: Select ‘Device Manager’ .

Step 4: Click the > button to update some drivers.

Step 5: Right Click Update Driver Software > you will get dual options to select from
in order to update your drivers.

Step 6: Select ‘Search automatically for updated driver software’.

 The action will re-direct Windows to explore the latest available driver software
for the chosen device in your system and online.
If the Windows is not able to come up with a solution, you will have to search
for the driver software online on the device manufacturer’s website.

However, in case none of the above methods work, you will have to reinstall
the driver.

Manually updating the drivers is a tedious and time-consuming process, as it

requires you to be present for each step, so as to carry forward the procedure. There
are even high chances that you might end up wasting time on updating the drivers
and yet attain no significant results. Another alternative could be, to download driver
update software windows 7.

DriverPack Solution is a free driver updater tool that, with just a few clicks,
finds the proper device drivers your computer needs and then downloads and installs
them for you—no clicking through any wizards or installation prompts.

Because DriverPack Solution is so easy to use and free from the clutter that
similar programs have, there are also some features you won't find in this tool.
DriverPack Solution has all the driver updater tool features you'd expect:

• Works with Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and

Windows XP
• DriverPack Solution is a lightweight program that doesn't take long to
download and connects to the internet for free online driver updates
