INTRODUCTION
The Mankadchuan Check Dam is an existing project near village
Mankadchan in Barkani G.P. of Balangir block in Balangir district.
LOCATION
This project is situated across Mathakhai stream. It is located about 14
Kms away from district headquarter. It is approachable in maximum time of the
year. The Check dam site is geographically defined by Latitude 20'50"50" N and
Longitude 83"43"34" E .
CATCHMENT
The catchment area of the project 3.54 Sq. Km.
NECESSITY OF THE PROJECT
The right embankment of the check dam was scoured during the flood in
the year 2019.Due to not of proper shape of the bank and as the length is not
adequate the water is not stored in the dam and the nearby farm lands are being
flooded with water during rainy season.
ESTIMATE
The estimate has been framed tentatively amounting to Rs. 4,40,668.00.
Provisions have been kept in the estimate for resectioning of the existing right
embankment and increasing the length of the embankment.
The estimate has been prepared considering the schedule of rates of 2022
with enhanced labour rate. The work shall be executed as per Odisha standard
specifications.
CONCLUSION
The inhabitants of the ayacut area are mostly farmers .It will help in
combating the draught situation as per the cultivation is concerned to some
extent. It will also improve the socio-economic status of the locality.
