The Operations and Management of Hospitality Industries in the City of Tabuk

Background: Reasons in studying the research title are the ff:

1. To begin with, is to have more ideas or knowledge on how hospitality industries being
operated and managed by the owner in order to attain their mission and vision in the long
run of business world.

2. In addition, is to develop my skills and potentials as business administration graduate


through the information’s gathered and shared by our local businessmen, so that someday
I’ll use them for my future plans.

3. Furthermore, Hospitality industry is presently booming in Tabuk City. As we look on


Hotels nowadays, this kind of business can be a one-stop-shop because they can cater
visitors from local and foreign travelers and with number of individuals who love to rest
and relax by lodging, attending reception parties, anniversary celebrations, weddings
business meetings and seminars and a convenient location where they can hold big and small
events.

5. Finally, hospitality industries offers great job and career opportunies for anyone who
wants to get involved in the world of tourism, in which I consider myself as enthusiastic
person who have a passion for people and service.(customer service)

Research Questions
The study will look into the operation and management of hospitality industries in
Tabuk City, Kalinga Province.
Specifically, it will aim to answer the following:
1. What is the demographic profile of the hospitality industries along with:
A.Registered Name B.Location of the Business; C.Name of the owner/Proprietor;
D.Educational attainment of proprietors; E.Products and Services offered; F.Number of
Personnel; G.Capital Investment; and Annual income.

2. What is the extent of socio–economic implications of the operation and management of


hotels and restaurants to the standard of living of business owners and employees.

2.1. Is there significant differences on the extent of socio-economic implications


of the operation and management of hospitality industries as assessed by the respondent
groups.

3. What are the internal and external related constraints affecting the operation
and management of hotels and restaurants encountered.

Hypothesis

The researcher will be guided by the following hypothesis. There is no significant


difference on the extent of socio-economic implications of the operation and management of
hospitality industries as assessed by the respondent groups.

Significance of the Study


This study establishes a clearer link between the tourism sector and sustainable
development of hospitality industries. The owners of the business/ proprietors,
clients/guest, staffs and other businessmen will also benefits in this study for more
ideas on quality service and business growth. The study will also benefit the researcher
in a way that she will gain knowledge and information about the operation and management
of hotels and restaurants in Tabuk City.
Limitations of the study
The study focused on the operation and management of selected hospitality industries
in Tabuk City namely, Grand Zion Garden resort and Hotel, Inc., Davidson Hotel, Golden
Berries and Convention Center, TAMPCO Inn and Training Center, Appas, Tabuk Las Vegas
Hotel Dagupan West, and Laoagan Inn and Resort. Other hospitality industries in other
areas are not included in this study. The respondents of the study are the business
owners, staff and selected clients of the six (6) selected hospitality industries.
Underpinning Theory
These business sectors has Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that protects their
staff, guests, and the business itself by structuring operations for efficiency, accuracy,
safety, and consistency. In an industry with high employee turnover, these procedures keep
staff aligned with the property’s ideal service and safety standards. SOPs also make
training staff much easier because they serve as a fixed set of rules and steps to follow
that you can consistently refer back to. Hospitality industries SOPs also ensure that your
property maintains a competitive guest experience. When guests stay with you, they expect
a consistent experience. Especially for return guests, any inconsistencies in service
quality or procedures can have a negative influence. 

Research Paradigm

The paradigm of the study includes, the input of the study will be the demographic
profile of the Selected Hospitality Industries in Tabuk City. The process to be employed
is the profiling, determining the extent of socio–economic implications of the operation
and management of these industries and the constraints encountered. The output of the
study will be a reliable and accessible information, description and recommendations for
development of operation and management, and mitigation of constraints among hospitality
industries in Tabuk City.

Research Design
The research design used descriptive- normative survey method is chosen because the
researcher will use a questionnaire to collect the data needed and will launch a focused-
group discussion to react to the questions and ensure the integrity of the responses for
the study's completion. It's will also be reliable since the data will be statistically
treated using the appropriate procedure to test the null hypothesis.

Participants of the Study

It shows that the study’s total frequency of participants is one hundred thirty (130). The
highest number among the participants is on clients, followed by staff. The least are the
proprietors/ business owners. The frequency of participants is shown on Table A.

Instrumentation

The main instrument to be employed is based on, adopted and slightly modified from
the work of Borrows and Powers on The Introduction to Management in the Hospitality
Industry, Study Guide, 9th Edition. This will be employ because the researcher finds it
very comprehensive in the approach on Hospitality Industries.

Data Gathering Procedure

Primarily, the researcher will seek permission from the owners/proprietors of the
different hotels and restaurants for the collection of data and information. The
researcher will gather data through survey questionnaire and personal interviews with the
owner, staff and client of the concerned hotels and restaurants.

Analysis of Data

To provide an objective treatment and interpretation of data, a four-likert scale


will be used to assess extent of socio-economic implications to the standard of living of
proprietors and for the extent of constraints affecting the operation and management of
hotels and restaurants frequency counting and ranking will be employed. Using the SPSS,
the ANOVA will be used to test the hypothesis.
