FLECKNEY RULES UPDATED 2023

1. The league should be governed by a Committee consisting of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman,


Secretary/Treasurer and 6 elected members to attend meetings.

2. The league will be open to teams by invitation only.

3. Each team shall consist of any 6 players. All teams will be registered at the A.G.M. All league
matches to be the best of 5 legs for 3 games. All 3 games to be played and one point awarded for
each game won. Home team to set all games. All league xtures to be played on Friday
commencing at 8:30 pm. Apart from exceptional circumstances an opposing team could request
the match to start even with a player short who may not join the match at any point once it has
started.

4. The results of matches, together with the players names to be sent on result cards by the
winning team to the Secretary within 7 days of the match being played and must be signed by
both captains. Failure to do so may result in the loss of winning points. The home team to supply
the result card.

5.Northampton pattern wooden pins and dabs only to be used in matches and competitions.

6. Oche to be 9 ft (2.75metres) on a level from the King pin. A straight line maximum width of the
table. The player must stand with both feet behind the line one foot must be in the oche when
throwing.

7. No “out of the back” hits to count. Dead dabs to be removed from the table. Any pin shall be
considered down when knocked o its spot. Any player knocking 9 pins down with one or two
throws must use the remaining dab(s) to complete their throw.

8. Players must be registered with the league by the day before becoming eligible to play in
league matches. No player having registered and played for a team will be allowed to play for any
other team during that season. A registration fee of £2.00 per player to be paid by the third week
of the season.

9. Any team having duty players (Fire, police etc.) called out during a match will be allowed to
play substitutes.

10. Any team playing ineligible players, in the event of them winning the Match, shall forfeit 3
points to their opponents.

11. Any team wishing to postpone a xture shall be required to give 48 Hours’ notice to their
opponents and the Secretary noti ed of the Postponement. It will not be considered a valid
reason for a Team to postpone a match to play in any competition other than a Fleckney league
xture.

12. All postponed matches to be played WITHIN 28 DAYS.

13. A team could claim a match if their opponents fail to arrive in time to start the game by
8:30pm unless the delay is caused by reasons such as fog or snow (see Rule 3). Any team failing
to ful l a xture shall forfeit the match and 3 points awarded to their opponents.

14. In the event of a team withdrawing from the league during a playing season, all matches that
have been played by them shall be deleted from the league chart and the points gained by them
shall be cancelled.

15. Any pin/pins knocked over by the woodyard by accident when removing dabs will be
reinstated.

16. Any pin leaning against the cushion with part of the base of the pin not touching its spot will
be deemed to be down.

17. Any questions arising not covered by these rules, the Committee shall have the full power to
deal with them and their decisions shall be nal

18. In the event of two teams tying in the league on points, team with most match wins will be
placed in the higher position.

BEER LEG CUP, K.O. CUP AND ALL COMPETITIONS


League rules will apply to the following: -

19. All teams entered in the league shall play in the K.O. Cup competition with 6

players registered within that team. Entrance fee £5-00 per team.

20. All players registered with the league will be eligible to play in the singles,

pairs and threes competitions. Entrance fee will be £2-00 singles, £4-00 per

pair and £6-00 for threes.

Failure to play in the nals will result in the Committee’s discretion on

awarding a trophy.

21. The draw for rounds will be made at committee meetings and closing set.

22. The team or players drawn shall attend the venue zoned to them on the

allotted date, played on a knockout basis to qualify for the semi- nals.

23. Winners of cup matches must notify the Secretary with the result by

closing date of the round.

24. Semi- nals will be played on a neutral table. Finals will be played on a

neutral table. Finals will be played at a speci ed venue. In the event of any

players or team from that venue

25. All competitions will be played on Friday nights up to the Semi- nals, as

on xture lists. Teams will be drawn and zoned.

26. Singles/Pairs/ & Threes as league rules, but the best of 9 legs, the best of

3 games.

27. Beer leg cup (league games only). Captains to decide whether to play “all

in or league rules only. Only registered players allowed to play. Winners

to receive £1-00 from opponents.

28. Highest score (league games and beer leg). League rules apply Ladies highest

score and Men’s highest score.

29. If a presentation night is held, prizes may not be issued if individuals do

not attend on the night. For full team winners, a minimum of 3 paying

players must attend to collect prizes. (Proposed and passed at 2004 AGM)

30. It was proposed and passed at the 2007 AGM that any player registered

with another FRIDAY league would not be allowed to register with the

Fleckney League purposely to join competitions.

31. (Update on rules 11 & 12). Any team cancelling a match should give 3

di erent dates for rearrangement to be agreed, otherwise the team that

did not cancel should claim the points within 28 days.

32. In the event of no player getting more than 18 in the highest scores

competition, the player with the most 18’s wins as recorded on result

cards. In the event of a tie, play o would be necessary. (From rule 26).
