I. Introduction
Background of the Study
Have you ever wondered how all the rooms and common areas in a
hotel are kept organized, clean, and attractive? Who are the workforce
behind these jobs? And the people behind all these activities are silent
workers called housekeeping. The Housekeeping Department’s primary
function in a hotel is the cleaning and maintenance of the areas under
its supervision. These areas are divided into eight (8) sections namely
guestrooms, halls and corridors, lobby, public rooms and restaurants,
offices of hotel personnel, stairways, windows and, stores. Customer
satisfaction is a must, It is therefore important that one who are
qualified to perform this kind of job are those who really have the skills
in housekeeping
But what is housekeeping? Housekeeping is a very demanding job that
requires one to be patient. Hotel housekeepers spend long hours on
their feet, sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning of
hotel premises. In addition to the cleaning task, hotel housekeepers
may also be responsible for shared duties, such as delivering beds to
guest rooms, replenishing toiletry supplies, and lifting and moving
lightweight objects around rooms inside the hotel.
To be able to do mentions above, a housekeeper needs to process
certain qualities. He or she needs to have an eye for detail. While at
work, they may come in close contact with guests. This is why it is a
must that they also have good interpersonal and communication skills.
Formal education is not required but most hotels prefer their
housekeepers to be at least a holder of a high school diploma and a NC
(National Certificate) in Housekeeping
Now, In our study we sought to find if we as students of the TVL HE
strand know housekeeping (NCII) subject, if we have the knowledge of
a housekeeper and are we competent enough to perform and conduct
housekeeping. So we will be conducting a research with two (2)
classrooms of Grade 12 TVL HE students of Oriental Mindoro National
High School on their Housekeeping Competency, these classes are
Grade 12 Hilton and Grade 12 Hyatt.

Statement of the Problem

1. What is the Level of competency of 12 HE Hilton
2. What is the Level of competency of 12 HE Hyatt
3. Are there differences between the housekeeping competency of
Grade 12 HE Hilton and Hyatt

Statement of the Hypothesis

No, there is no differences between the housekeeping competencies
of Grade 12 HE Hilton and Hyatt, and the level of competencies of
both classes are the same.

Scope of Limitations
This study focuses on how students understand their competencies
and how they use their knowledge in housekeeping. The data
collection will be conducted on both classes of 12 HE Hilton and
Hyatt which contains sixty (60) students or less who are enrolled in
Oriental Mindoro National High School (OMNHS) school year 2022-
2023 and their teacher in housekeeping are those who will represent
the population. This research will not cover other problems that are
not considered as the study of the research. The other students in
grade 12 who which do not belong in classes Hilton and Hyatt are
not within the scope of this research. The study would be done
through the utilization of questionnaires to the student and to their
subject teacher as a survey and reference. By their strategy the
researchers will be able to know the comparison of the level of
competencies between the two classes
