Verum Product Research Guide - 2020

We put together this guide to provide the reader with a comprehensive list of product
research methods that we have personally tested and collected over the years. This
guide will be regularly updated and maintained as we find new and improved methods.

Facebook Newsfeed
This is one of the most effective methods we have seen to find winning products, and the one
we use most often.

It is easy to set up and can yield a variety of different product types, ranging from how popular
the product is, to the niche it is in.

Setting Things Up
1. Install the Turbo Ad Finder Chrome plugin
2. Click on the Turbo Ad Finder icon on your browser bar
3. Click the Toggle to activate Turbo Ad Finder

Populating Your Feed


Initially, you may not be seeing that many ecommerce related ads. What you need to do is
engage with ecommerce ads that you do receive; go ahead and like the post, comment on it,
and click on the ad to get to the landing page of the site. Once there, scroll around and look at
the product page(s), as well as add the product to your cart and initiate a checkout. Once you
have done so, Facebook will place you into a category of people who are likely to purchase, and
you will find that Facebook will begin to serve you more ecommerce product ads.

Facebook Post & Video Search
This is another great way to find products, especially if you find that the Facebook Newsfeed is
not giving you any ecommerce ads. By using this method and interacting with the results you
get, you will find that the newsfeed will populate with more relevant advertisements as well.

The method is simple: you search for common dropshipping copywriting terms in the Facebook
search bar

Some terms may yield more ecommerce product results -- be sure to test a few out and see
what works best.

This is also a great way to start seeing more ecommerce product ads on the Facebook
Newsfeed!

SaleSource
This is a fantastic paid tool that we tested and used for some time. As of the day this section
was written, SaleSource was priced at $50 for their cheapest plan. They offer a free trial once
you create an account and put your credit card information in; however, you can cancel at any
time.

SaleSource is very robust and offers a ton of functionality. I’m going to pick out the sections that
we have found most useful when looking around for products.

Chrome Plugin

The chrome plugin for this tool is pretty great. It allows you to go to any
ecommerce/dropshipping store, and analyze the store & product.

After you click either of these buttons, you will be redirected back to the app, which will perform
an analysis of your selected product.

The amount of information you get here is pretty incredible; anything from a list of competitors
that are selling the product to the vendors with the cheapest price and highest volume. A great
alternative to some of the more expensive spy tools.

Top Stores
This function uses machine learning and AI functionality to estimate the revenues of various
stores, and provides a list of them based on the assumed volume they are doing. While we can’t
necessarily vouch for the accuracy of their revenue estimation, the sheer amount of
high-volume dropshipping products and niches you can get exposed is more important than the
estimates.

Note: Be sure to select ‘Dropshipping Stores’ so that you don’t get a bunch of high-end
brands and their products (unless you’re looking for niche inspiration).

Product Center
This section of the app has several features:

All of these provide you with great information and value that will help you find winners. They
are relatively easy to use; you just click on the relevant section and Sale Source will provide you
with a list of products that correspond to that category.

New & Trending
This is a feature that we really like -- it shows a curation of products that are newly
posted/trending, that will refresh every 12 hours (supposedly to prevent over-saturation). Think
of it like a mini-ecomhunt!

Best Sellers (By Niche)
We have found that “Best Selling - All Time” tool is a little unreliable. This section gives you
results that are not necessarily dropshipping products -- they may also be products that people
are purchasing on Aliexpress, which don’t always necessarily make for great dropshipping
products. Don’t forget that Aliexpress is the Amazon for some places in the world (namely
Russia). Ultimately, you need to filter through the results and see what you can actually feasibly
dropship.

Best Selling (All Time)
We have found that Best Selling - All Time is also a little unreliable, for the same reasons as
mentioned above. However, ultimately the type of product you want to sell (the degree of
saturation, niche type, etc) will be up to you. Any product can work; it all comes down to
execution.

SellerPulse
This is another paid tool that has a great amount of functionality. Unlike SaleSource, this app
relies more on the search parameters that you feed it; it has less of that ‘show me random
products to give me inspiration’ vibe that you would find with SaleSource. Priced at $39/month,
this is a cheaper alternative that will still get the job done.

Though this tool has a few sections that you might find useful, we’re going to focus on the
Database Search, which lets you specify specific parameters to find your products.

The interface looks like this:

It may seem somewhat daunting at first, but you’ll find it’s easy to use and navigate once you
understand what’s going on.

First, select the product categories that you wish to explore with your search. There’s a
convenient ‘Select All’ if you don’t have a particular type in mind.

Next, go ahead and enter your Filter Parameters

You have the ability to put in specific keywords, feedback scores, price and orders. Additionally,
you can also segment your results based on a time-window, as well as whether or not that
product listing on Aliexpress has a video.

Once you’ve done that, go ahead and hit search to get your results. You can filter and order
based on the Category, Price, Feedback, Rating, and Order Volume.

Ecomhunt
Believe it or not, Ecomhunt is one of the best winning products research methods we’ve had the
pleasure of using. This is a curated list of products that gets several new submissions every day.
Ecomhunt offers both a free and paid plan; the free plan has limitations on what information you
get about the product, as well as a delay on the new products that are listed.

To be honest, we cancelled our paid subscription to Ecomhunt because we don’t need the extra
fluff that they provide. In the end, all that matters is the product.

How We Use Ecomhunt


What we’ve found works exceptionally well is looking at the older listings on Ecomhunt. Go back
a year or two, and you’ll be shocked to find winning products that people are currently running,
or have ran in the past. The posture brace, mosquito trapper, and random gadgets that have
been scaled to 7 figures are all there.

You see, 99% of people will just test what’s on the first few pages, and then find that there’s a
ton of competition. Now, that’s not to say that you can’t win in a competitive market, but it makes
it more difficult when everyone is running offers for the same product to the same audience.

Just give it a shot and see what happens!

Aliexpress Dropship Center
You know all those paid tools that we showed you above? Well, they scrape all of their data
from the Aliexpress API, which is what the Aliexpress Dropship Center uses. So basically, you
can find the same exact products on the Dropship Center. The difference is that those platforms
are robust, and filter through that data, so that it looks better than the Dropship Center.

It’s a simple tool with three sections:


● Hot DS Item
● Suppliers Rank
● Product Analysis

Hot DS Item

This section gives you a list of items that are currently doing large volume on Aliexpress, based
on the product category you provide.

Suppliers Rank

This section gives you a list of the top-performing Aliexpress stores for a particular category. As
we understand it, the rankings are based on a combination of order volume, as well as store
feedback. This can be a great way to find ‘winning niches’ as well as products!

Product Analysis

This final section is essentially a tool that allows you to put in any Aliexpress URL, and it will
give you the order volume for that product, as well as the logistics reliability of the particular
supplier.

So, if you are curious what the order volume for a particular product on Aliexpress is, this tool is
a free and effective way to quickly get that information to help you make product picking
decisions.

CJ Dropshipping
CJDropshipping is essentially a logistics company. They have an online web app that also
shows which products they stock, allowing you to directly place orders from them. They offer
cheaper prices and faster shipping times than Aliexpress.

And the good news is that all of the products that you find on here are making sales -- there is
an MOQ requirement for stocking any product with them.

Just browsing around and looking at products, you’re bound to find a winner.
