“SADDEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE”

When we got the call from our relatives that our Lola, from my father side,
was severely sick, it was heartbreaking. We decided not to pay her a visit
because covid was still ranging at the time.
I remember visiting her in their home in Bacnotan, La Union on September
5,2020, but I couldn’t hug her because she was so frail. But she was able to
speak, and when our gazes met, tears streamed down our cheeks. They are
getting ready to go to the hospital that day. As a granddaughter, I assist her in
standing, transferring to her wheelchair, and combing her hair. We stayed
there until the afternoon because our Lola told us not to go home yet. Until
they went home on the afternoon, I saw my Lola in the car getting a dextrose.
We said our goodbyes and left at that point.
The date is September 6, 2020, at precisely 1:00 p.m. We were doing our
activities when my sister received the bad news that our Lola had died. We
were shocked because we had just seen her alive when we went to see her.
Because of the tragic situation, we were unable to celebrate our birthday on
September 7,2020. They had to bury her because she was found to be positive
for covid. As a result of our close contact, we had to go on a 14- day
quarantine, but thanks to God, we didn’t get any symptoms of covid and we
were fine at all.
The most important lesson I’ve learned from these experiences, trials, and
challenges is that we should treasure the time was spend with our loved ones
because not everyone will live as long as we wish. Our family and friends are
the most valuable assets on our lives. We learn that our fortunes in life are not
permanent once we have experienced a situation in which someone is taken
from us.
