For this reason, only generally applicable information can be provided in this section, Inspection prior to installation Before installing the Audio Selector and Intercom System in an aircraft. 8 visual in spection should be carried out in order to determine any damage which the unit may have incurred during transport, paying particular attention to the following defects : 1. Diet, dents, seratehes, corrosion, broken secur iuy elements on casing and casing parts. 2, Dirt and scratches on nameplate, front panel and markings. 3. Dirt, bent or broken pins, eracked unit connector eTement. 4. Dirt, stttfness ond mechenicel demage of pushbutton anitelies, rolery amiteties aid potentioneters. Mechanica! installation The Audio Selector and Intercom Unit must be installed in a suitable position in the installation dimensions of the Audio Selector and Intercom Unit. The Audio Selector and Intercom Unit is secured by means of 4 OZUS fasteners. Aeorafe wiring Conor st_information ‘The aircraft wiring of the Audio Selector and Intercom Unit differs depending on the type of aircraft and equipment. For this reason, only generally applicable information can be provided. NOTE © The signe! Tines should be screened and twisted if necessary and provided with 2 cormon shield for uncertain BNC conditions. © Porticutar attention should be paid to good ground arrangenent (supply voltage ground, audio ground) from 3 central ground point. Ground loops must be avoided. Fuse protection and wiring of power supply. Refer to Fig, 2-2 for fuse protection and wiring of the power supply with one or sei Audio Selector and Intercom Units. 4.3 Wieing and matching of aircraft interconmunication Fig. 2-3 shows the fundamental function of the IC aircraft intercommunication, 1. IC/HOT MIKE operation The aircraft intercomunication is threshold-controlled in the positions 1 - & and 6 (PA) of the transmitter celector switch. In thie way, eeraft intarcommunt= cation is possible without operating a control element. 2. HC operation with IC kay or PTT key ‘Ine aircrart interccrmumeation 1S possiDle by depressing the IC key, the thres- hold-control is bypassed. IC operation is also possible with the IC key or PTT key in position IC of the transmitter selector switch, while the threshold-control is deactivated. 3. IC operation with PIT key (option) When IC operation is to be inplenented but no IC key is available, the diode 0 2071 (1 M4148) shouTd be Used (refer to Fig. 2-3, Fig. 2-9 and cireuit aiagram wiring board). IC operation is then possible with the PIT key in position IC of the transmitter selector switch, while the threshold-control is deactivated. Matching of the IC audio Tine ‘The IC audio line of the Aut Selector and intercom Unit leads to he corresponaing intercom unts (¢.g. AS 3100 (FIC 3100 etc). A maximum of three units with an input impedance of 600 0 can be connected, The IC audio line level is set at the works to 0.7 V at a load of 200 0. Iftwo units are connected, the IC aude line should be ‘connected with a load resistor of 600 0 and 300 2 when only one unit is connected (also See Fic. 2-4), 2.8.3.2 Adjusting the IC audio Tine level If necessary, the setting of the IC audio line level carried out at the works can be repeated as follows 1. Ist cossibility Depress IC key and speak into ike. The threshold-control {s bypassed. 2nd possibility + Switen transmitter selector switcn in positron It, depress IG key or PII Key and speak into mike. The threshold- control is ewitched-off. In both cases. the sidetone of the outooing signal and the fnonming clonal from the IC audio Tine are continously variable with the IC volume control. $e operation with PTT key (opeton) If no IC key is available, IC operation can take place with the PIT key if the diode D 2071 has been installed in accordance with Section 2.4.3. Switch the transmitter selec tor switch in position IC, depress PTT key and speak into mike, In this way, the thres- hold-control is switched off, The sidetone of the outgoing eignal and the incoming signal from the IC audio line are infinitely variable with the IC volune control. Transmitter driving ‘Switch transmitter selector switch to required transmitter (1-4), depress PTT key and speak into mike. The volune of the sidetone can be varied with the VOL control. Transmitter mode has priority over IC/HOT NIKE operation. The transmitter selector snitch also {nfttates AF monitoring of the selected transceiver in the event that the corresponding transceiver pushbutton switch was not depressed. The volune of audio monitoring can be varied with the VOL control. Receiver nonitoring Switch on required receiver with the corresponding transceiver pushbutton switch or receiver pushbutton snitch. The volume cen be varied with the VOL control. Monitoring the fixed inputs and expander inputs Fixed input ‘Audio monitoring can be set with the VOL control. Fixed fnputs I and 111 Audio monitoring via muting, f-0. muting takes place when PTT key Is depressed. The monitoring volune of the fixed inputs can be varied with the VOL control. Expander input | ‘Audio monttorfng ts not influenced by the VOL control, the volune {3 defined by fixed resistors. Expander input 1: Audlo monitoring can be set with the VOL control. a 3.3.8 PA announcements Switch transmitter selector switch in position PA. Depress PIT key and speak into mike. A remote PA amplifier is driven and addressed for cabin announcements or outer speakers. 22.0 Enangeney cperstion Depress the EMER pushbutton switch in the case of failure of the supply voltage I, or of a module or circuit in normal operation of the Audio Selector and Intercom Unit. In thts may, emergency operation is made possible via the supply voltage !1, the transmitter drive operates as in normal operation and receiver monitoring takes place at reduced poner. In this mode of operation, it is not possible to vary the volume by neans of the VOL control vidual transceivers. IC/HOT MIKE and IC operation are not possible during emergency operation. on/a8 bv 27802,03/.08
