CEW | CEW back on track

After almost three years of online programming of Christian Emphasis Week due to pandemic, the
semestral event is back on track as it commences face-to-face celebration today.

Hundreds of Filamerians from 11 departments together with the university administrators, faculty and
staff joined the Jericho Walk then Opening Salvo at the University Gym.

"If you are in Christ, there will always be an endless hope; but if you are not in Christ, there is hopeless
end," Dr. George Cortel shared in his welcome remarks as he emphasized his appreciation to the
attendees of the event.

Meanwhile, preacher Rev. Cris Amorsolo Sian shared insights about suicide prevention and advised
everyone to help each other in dealing with the issue of depression leading to suicide.

"We have a lifeline in Jesus, and if you have Jesus in your heart, be a lifeline [to others]," Rev. Sian
emphasized.

The theme for this semester's CEW is "Jesus at 'now normal': Remaining in God's Sustaining Grace"
which is anchored on Job 23:10-12, John 15:5-7, and 2 Corinthians 12:9.

Convocations are scheduled for each department in the week-long event and classes are shortened to
give focus on the event.
