Once upon a time, there lived two princesses in the Kingdom of Kahuripan. The eldest was Candra
Kirana, a beautiful princess who was kind and compassionate to everyone she met. Her younger
sister, Putri Dewi Galuh, had the opposite character; she was selfish and jealous.
One day, a prince named Raden Inu Kertapati arrived at the kingdom and proposed to Candra Kirana.
Despite Putri Dewi Galuh’s jealousy, Candra Kirana accepted the prince’s proposal. This made Putri
Dewi Galuh even more jealous, so she went to a wicked witch and asked her to curse Candra Kirana.
The witch approved Putri Dewi Galuh’s proposal. She then, obliged and cast a spell that turned
Candra Kirana into a golden snail and threw it into the river saying “Your curse will end when the
prince finds you.”

Raden Inu Kertapati was heartbroken by the curse and set out to search for his beloved princess in
hopes of breaking the curse. After months of searching, he finally found her and was able to break the
witch’s curse. Candra Kirana was returned to her original form and she and Raden Inu Kertapati were
happily married.
