THE GOLDEN SNAIL

In ancient times, there was a kingdom named the Kingdom of Daha, ruled by a king named King
Kertamarta. King Kertamarta had two beautiful princesses with contrasting personalities named
Princess Candra Kirana and Princess Dewi Galuh.

When both princesses reached adulthood, the Kingdom of Daha received a proposal from a crown
prince from the Kingdom of Kahuripan named Raden Inu Kertapati. Raden Inu Kertapati proposed
to Princess Candra Kirana. The proposal was accepted by King Kertamarta, who planned an
engagement ceremony between Raden Inu Kertapati and Princess Candra Kirana.

However, Princess Dewi Galuh, who was jealous of her sister's happiness and also had feelings for
her sister's fiancé, sought the help of a witch to sabotage the engagement. She asked the witch to
transform Princess Candra Kirana into a Golden Snail. The witch granted Princess Dewi Galuh's
request, and Princess Candra Kirana was transformed into a snail and thrown into the river. Her
form could only be restored if she found true love.

One day, a kind-hearted old woman who lived in the forest found the Golden Snail in her fishing net
after a day of unsuccessful fishing. The old woman took the Golden Snail home with her.

The next day, the old woman went fishing again, but her luck remained the same, and she returned
home empty-handed. However, to her surprise, a meal was waiting for her on the dining table.

This mysterious event repeated itself, so the old woman decided to return home earlier to
investigate. She was astonished to find that the Golden Snail she had caught had transformed into a
beautiful woman who was cooking food for her.

The old woman approached her and inquired about her true identity. Princess Candra Kirana
revealed her true self. After finishing her story, Princess Candra Kirana transformed back into the
Golden Snail.

Raden Inu Kertapati, realizing that his intended fiancée had disappeared, began a search while
disguised as a commoner. The witch found out about the prince's plan and disguised herself as a
talking crow to intercept him. However, the prince received help from a kind and powerful parrot he
encountered on the way, which scared away the crow, causing it to transform into smoke and
vanish.
Raden Inu Kertapati continued his journey and, after days of searching, finally found Princess
Candra Kirana, who was cooking for the old woman. Their reunion broke the curse, and Princess
Candra Kirana, along with the old woman, was brought back to Daha.

Upon their arrival in Daha, Princess Candra Kirana recounted her ordeal, which infuriated her
father, King Kertamarta, who imposed a severe punishment. However, Princess Dewi Galuh fled into
the forest out of fear.

After these events, a grand wedding ceremony was held, and Princess Candra Kirana and Raden Inu
Kertapati lived happily ever after.
