PART I: READING
Our brains are remarkable in their ability to detect and differentiate patterns in the world
around us. We use these patterns to make predictions about the future, identify potential
opportunities and threats, and understand complex information. By combining different
stimuli, we can process information more efficiently and make meaning out of seemingly
disparate pieces of information. However, with the abundance of information available in the
digital age, our brains can easily become overwhelmed and struggle to differentiate between
important and irrelevant information.
When learning a new language, our brains must distinguish between different sounds and
grammar rules to understand the language. We associate new information with what we
already know and start to recognize patterns in the language. With practice, we can
differentiate between different words and phrases more easily and use our past language
experiences to help us learn more quickly. However, the sheer amount of new information
can be overwhelming, and our brains can struggle to process it all.
Past experiences play an important role in helping us make decisions and solve problems.
By considering our past successes and failures, we can identify what has worked well in the
past and avoid repeating mistakes. We can also apply previous solutions to new problems
and adapt them to fit the current situation. Our ability to detect patterns and make predictions
based on past experiences is essential to making informed decisions and solving problems
effectively.
In conclusion, our brains have the remarkable ability to detect and differentiate patterns in
the world around us. By combining different stimuli, we can process information more
efficiently and make meaning out of complex information. However, with the abundance of
information available in the digital age, our brains can easily become overwhelmed.
Nonetheless, our past experiences and ability to associate and distinguish patterns can help
us make informed decisions and solve problems effectively.

ability to process and make meaning out of stimuli?
Teacher:
“Mathilda has been a first-grade high school student for more than half a term but she has
never done any of her responsibilities so far. So the teacher is now talking to her parents
about the problems she has been having:
You know that this is not an easy school Mr. and Mrs. Morton. They______________ a lot of
lessons and too much homework _____________________ to our students every day.
Homework ____________ always _______________ by the teachers in the next lessons
and quizzes _________________________ for our students every Wednesday. However, no
homework ____________________________ by Mathilda properly and a good mark on the
quizzes or common exams _________________________________ by her so far. Although
she promises to start studying, these promises__________________________,yet.
As a result, the academic level of your daughter has decreased since she first started to this
school.
We regret to inform you that, an easier school ________________________ by you so that
she can start studying.
We ___________________ by her friends that she had found our school so hard that she
gave up everything the first day she started here.”
Mrs. Morton: “ Matilda is a very smart girl and we don’t believe that she can’t cope with the
school subjects. I think you are not aware of the real problem. The other girls in her class are
always making fun of her. She always cries in her bed. If she likes her friends, she will start
studying. Did you try talking to her before? What does the class teacher say about her?
Please search about it and contact us again. “
