Flash Memoir

Wrestling Match

I was walking down the hall and then the stairs. I was drained of all my energy, because I

just left my math class. As I thought that all hope was lost in the world and that happiness was

never an option. I thought about how fun it would be to wrestle some of my friends and to play

tap out or tackle pomp. What I like to do for fun is either play games, make new things, and have

competition in sports or fighting. So at this point I really wanted to fight someone to bring life

back into my life. I didn’t want to hurt anybody but just fight or spar for fun.

I was walking past the lunchroom when out of the corner of my eye I saw my boy Clark

Gustafason wrestling with his twin brothers. I got a little excited and walked in the lunchroom

instead of waiting for my ride. He just barely got out of his Tae kwon do class and was waiting

for his ride too. We decided to set up an arena so we could wrestle but if you fall out of the arena

circle you lose. We started going at it and we were having a blast as I would win and then he

would have a comeback and win. After about ten minutes then we got very tired and we sat

down to rest.

We started to talk about how we had fun and that there needs to be more classes where

we could do martial arts or some kind of physical activity. We realized that there where college

classes but not really any high school classes. It was like a dream that we had that would never

come true because we couldn’t change anything.

I looked up some articles about this shortage of martial arts high school classes and found

that “Some school officials at high schools and private boarding schools are concerned that

martial arts classes might be dangerous. Martial arts is the art of hitting people, isn’t it? Not

really — the truth is, when taught properly martial arts classes can be safe and uplifting. In a

controlled environment, martial arts is educational and no more dangerous than football,

basketball or any other contact sport.” After seeing this, it made me realize we are not the only

ones and others want the martial arts classes as well while being safe at the same time.
