Chapter I

INTRODUCTION

This chapter presents the Background of the Study, Statement of the

Problem, Significance of the Study, and Scope and Delimitation

Background of the Study

This part of the study provides relevant information about the study. This

contains at least five sections covering key issues, major findings from other

similar/related researches, and controversies surrounding your thesis. You may

use the following format:

Paragraph 1: Introduce the topic

Paragraph 2: Describe the background of the problem

Paragraph 3: Establish the research problem

Paragraph 4: Specify the purpose of the study and its importance

Paragraph 5: Overview of the rest part of the paper

Statement of the Problem

This part of the study provides information on the general and specific

problem to be answered. Specific problem must have al least three specific

problem (excluding the profile of the respondents).

2

Note: Statement of the Problem shall be applicable for empirical type of

study while argumentative shall use Objective of the Study. Hypothesis Shall be

added after Objective of the study.

Significance of the Study

This part provides information as to whom the study is important and who

shall benefit the output of the study. Significance shall be arranged according to

extent of significance.

Scope and Delimitation

This part lay down the scope and limitations/delimitations of the study.

This shall consist of two paragraphs.

Paragraph 1: Scope- answers WH questions.

Paragraph 2: Delimitation: Until where shall the study cover

Limitation: What things was covered only by the study

Chapter II

REVIEW OF RELATED STUDIES AND LITERATURE

This chapter presents the literatures and studies reviewed related to the

topic under study.

Topic A

This part provides the reviewed studies, literature, journals, and etc.

Topic B

Chapter 2 shall be presented in thematic style or presented per topic.

Topic C

You may provide additional topic depending on the study available. RRL

Must be within the required 5 year period or RRL from 2017-2022. Note: A 10

year period would only be applicable (2002 – 2022) for limited number of RRL.

Synthesis

This part presents the analysis of the reviewed literature of the study. It is

where you would compare and contrast the studies in addition to personal

reflection of the reviewed RRL.

Figure 1: Conceptual Framework

This part presents the concept of research either arranged using IPO
(Input, Process, Output Format) or Conceptual Paradigm (Highly Applicable to
Correlational Study). Sample of IPO is presented above. Theoretical Framework
and Hypothesis must be added after the Conceptual Framework for argumentative
(correlational) study.

Operational Definition of Terms

This part provides terms used in the study, it should be arranged

alphabetically and defined using dictionary given definition and the operational

definition.
Chapter III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the Research Design, Research Method, Population

and Sampling, Data Gathering Instrument, Data Gathering Procedure, and

Statistical Treatment of Data.

Research Design

This part of chapter 3 presents the overall strategy integrated into different

components to address the research problem effectively. It could either be

Exploratory, Descriptive, Causal, Correlational, experimental, explanatory, or etc.

Research Methodology

The research methodology highlights the strategies, processes, and

techniques utilized in data collection and analysis of evidence to uncover answers

for the research problem. It could either be qualitative, quantitative, or mixed

method of research.

Population of the Study

This part present the target population of the study and provides important

information about their background.

Sampling Techniques

Sampling techniques presents the sampling process utilized to determine

the total sample size. Computation of the total sample may not be presented and is
6

not necessary. However, in case of stratified sampling, number of sample per

strata should be presented using tabular form as prescribed in the table below:

Table 1:
Respondents of the Study

Stata P % n
A xx,xxx xx.xx xxx
B xx,xxx xx.xx xxx
Total xx,xx xx.xx xxx
Note: Population (P), Percentage (%), Sample (n)

Data Gathering Instrument

This portion provides information on what data gathering instrument to be

utilized in data gathering. It will also cover process of reliability and validity

testing.

Data Gathering Procedure

Provides the step-by-step process of data gathering.

Statistical Treatment of Data

This part provides the data on the different statistical processes use for

treatment of data. This further discuss on what specific SOP the statistical process

is to be use. Formula and computation may not be presented.
