Analog to Digital Converter (ADC)

Assalamualaikum wr.wb. Good morning everyone. Thank you for coming to my

presentation. Let me introduce myself first. My name is Diksi Aisyah Isna. Today, I want to
explain to you about a component that we have already known, called Analog to Digital
converter, or simply we can call it ADC. I will explain the advantage & disadvantage of the of
the ADC; types of ADC; the characteristics of ADC; and last but not least, the application of
the circuit. So, without any further a do let’s talk about ADC now.

First, we will talk about the advantage and disadvantage of ADC. As we know, ADC or
analog to digital converter has the advantage for converting the analog (continue) signal to
the digital (biner) signal. It is very important to used for many purposes in this modern era.
But the ADC also have a little disadvantage, which is it often took long time to convert the
analog signal to digital signal.

ADC has several types. Commonly, there is known 3 most popular types of ADC. First,
simultan ADC. In this type, the Vi input will be converted to digital, which is using the
positive of comparator. Second, Counter ramp ADC. This type also has DAC. When the
analog input not bigger as the DAC, then the output is 1. And third, SAR ADC. SAR has similar
configuration with the Counter ramp ADC, but the bit combination is the result of the
output.

The characteristic of ADC mainly depend on 2 principle. The sampling speed and the
resolution. Because of that characteristic, there are so many application of the ADC in our
daily life. For example, it is used for the communication system, robotic system, audio video
system, measurement system, etc. So, that’s all form me. I hope you could get any beneficial
from my presentation. Thank you for your attention, Wassalamualaikum wr.wb.
