Acupuncturing Kampung Jawa
The anatomy of Ipoh holds Kampung Jawa as part
of the leftover spine which houses the true locals &
elderlies - the old & slow of Ipoh Town. The
Acupuncture theory injects the reminiscence of
Pasar Karat, the old-charm of Cinema Street &
Waller Court identity to reestablish the nerve
system, as we call the Spine, towards an expansion
of flow & the rebirth of Kampung Jawa.

Through Acupuncture, traditional Chinese technique

balances the flow of connecting circuit as to bring
impact by expansion of spines & into redeeming the
loss of identity of Kampung Jawa bring forward a
clear image of completion of understanding&
appreciating Ipoh as a whole. Hence, bridging the
flow of the old & the new.

Explore the Roots
This project calls for the design of a Kebun Komuniti
PLUS within the suburban neighborhood of USJ 2.
Students will generate narratives that respond to the
environment and community as user groups within the
given context and explore environmental poetics of
building enclosure’s design solutions that reduce
environmental impact utilizing various complex
typologies of spatial organizations and a variety of
passive strategies for sustainable design.

The design should contribute to and merge

harmoniously with the environment and site and
provide the best of spatial experiences in fostering a
sense of community.

Lost in the City
In early stage of urbanization in KL, streets are often
planning a linear way along the Nadi Sungai for the
purpose of transporting goods and people using the
rickshaw and bikes During the 80 ’street are safe for
pedestrian to passer by, setting up stalls and
even performance during festivals

As the functionality of space increases, more population

would occupy the spaces and therefore forming the
width of the streets A wider streets are trying to fulfil
the basic needs of transportations, pedestrian and even
hawker store.

Streets are formed by organic grid lines able to direct

the pedestrian through different pathway, allowing them
to have a free flow circulation

Revive the Kinship, Remember the Hardship
Through the story of Rasa, a new village which has
gone through the bitter and sweeter side of life cycle
experience by different aged group. During the glorious
tin mining industry of the town, people live with a joy
and comfortable life whereas during the Japanese
Colonization, they were being abused and murdered by
the army.

The contrast between the positive and negative part of

the town gives me an intention on reflecting the
collective memories of hardship and embrace the
kinship between Rasa dwellers. The concept is to
create a journey with threshold spaces that recall back
different fragmentized moment in different timeline to
rebuild the collective memories.

Terrarium House
The most unique expectation given by the client brief
is to maximize the landscape view, daylighting and
sufficient space which able to fit all necessary spaces.

Why not every space within the house can appreciate

the nature green and light?

Thus, a house with multiple courtyard is designed and

allow the client to have greenery view throughout every
corner of the house.
06
Contemporary yet Mysterious toilet
The restroom design targets to create a raw and rustic
feelings, whereby low-profile material is chosen while
letting nature to shine and embellish the overall
experience.

Raw material such as bricks and rough concrete are

used to create a sense of outdoor and nature.
06
Heritage Residential Shophouse
The Shophouse located at the Heritage Zone, in
Georgetown Penang. There are a lots of restriction
and difficulty on designing this residential shophouse
as the façade of the building can’t be demolished and
the layout of the shophouse is elongated and narrow.

Thus, a big void is opened at the middle of the

shophouse to allow sufficient sunlight to penetrate
and forms a more spacious spaces for users to
accommodate.
