1.) Below is a Venturi Meter – a device used to measure the rate of flow or speed of fluid
inside a closed channel. The pressure can be measured by any apparatus such as U-
tube manometer, or a even stand-pipe. In the system illustrated, a 20cm diameter
pipe contracts at point-2 to 10cm diameter. The total height of the fluid at point-1 (h1
+ Δh) is 23cm while the total height at point-2 (h2 + Δh) is 14cm. If the velocity at
point-2 is known to be 15m/s, how fast does the liquid entering at point-1? (s.g. =
1.25, ρ = 1,250kg/m3).
