INTRODUCTION

Good Day My Dear Students! I hope you

are doing well today. With my guidance
and with the help of your parents, you
are expected to finish the tasks assigned
to you while at home. Please do not
forget to put a check mark (✓) in the box
of every accomplished task.

For your opening prayer, please bow your head and pray the prayer below:

Loving Father, I come to you this day

for your blessing and help as I am about
to start my tasks today.
I pray for your guidance that you would
clearly show me how to do my work
with a spirit of joy and enthusiasm.
Give me the desire to find ways to excel
in my work. I ask that you would
challenge me to reach my goal to the
best that I can be. This I ask in Jesus
name,
Amen.

Please read the learning competency stated below and fill-up the chart that follows:
LEARNING COMPETENCY/COMPETENCIES

For this lesson, you will learn to:

· Describes the characteristics, strengths, weaknesses, and kinds of quantitative

research
· Formulate a quantitative research questions
· Value the importance of quantitative research in our lives
·

From the learning competency stated above, write on the first column of the chart below your
personal learning targets. Fill-up the second and the third colum after finishing all the tasks.

LET’S STUDY !
Now let’s keep going. Enjoy learning about
Useful Materials. There are enabling activities
that will help you study the lesson.
The important concept that you need to understand in this lesson is the
Characteristics, Strengths, Weaknesses, and Kinds of Quantitative Research

Study the following illustrations.

What is a quantitative research?

• Expressions like numerical forms, objective thinking, statistical methods and

measurements signal the existence of quantitative research.
• Makes you focus on specific things by means of statistics that involve
collection and study of data.
• The term ‘numerical’ is a descriptive word that pertains or denotes to
express how much, how many or what rank things are or have in this world.
Since quantitative research uses numbers and figures to denote a particular
thing, this kind of research requires your full attention on the object of your
study.

What are the characteristics of quantitative research?

The characteristics of quantitative research are as follows:

Empirical - makes use of verifiable evidence in order to arrive

at research outcomes. In other words, this type of research relies solely on
evidence obtained through observation or scientific data collection methods.
(Factual)

Cyclical - Research is a cyclical process because it starts with a problem and

ends with a problem. Research utilizes proven analytical procedures in
gathering the data, whether historical, descriptive, experimental and case
study. (Recurrent/Repeated)

To check your undertstanding of the topic, answer the activity below.

ACTIVITY 2: LET’S TRY THIS !

Instruction: Accomplish the task inside the box.

Critical - loosely defined genre of social inquiry whose central theme involves
the problematizing of knowledge. (Analytic)

Methodological - aims at improving research methodology and statistical
