SCIENTIFIC METHOD
Good day, Agnesian! It’s the start of another week of learning. I hope that you are
ready for what is about to come this week!
A scientist is someone who starts with questions, so kids make great scientists! As
kids explore the natural world, they have developed questions just like real scientists.
There is so much to learn through experimentation with the help of simple materials
around us.
As we develop practices that involve creating, gathering data, evaluating, analyzing, and
communicating, we can apply these critical thinking skills to any situation.
Remember, you don’t need to try and solve the world’s biggest science
questions! The scientific method is all about studying and learning things right
around This is a learning module intended guide you in understanding the animals
around us. As you work on this module, you must answer some questions and do
activities to test your understanding. Your answers must be written on the spaces
provided. At the end of the module be sure to accomplish the Performance Criteria
Checklist. Do not forget to write your significant learning experience after finishing
the module. Please also ask your parent/guardian to write their remarks and
suggestions. Have fun!
Day 1
Good morning and Benedicite! Are you ready to learn something new today?
Let’s start our lesson this morning with the following activities.
BOOK TRACK
Kindly open your Aralinks account and answer the following activities. Make sure
that you follow all the instructions in each activity. Have fun!
Have you ever wondered how things around you come into existence? How did
they all begin? There are so many reasons for their existence and you always ask these
questions, “how and why?” things act that way. So, people continue to search for the
truth and this truth is what we call science.
To know more about science, read the information in your book p. 1-3 and
answer the following activities.

Let us understand more about the basic science processes by watching the
video. To watch the video, kindly click the link or type it on your browser or you can
scan the QR code using your phone or tablet. After watching the video, answer the
activity below.

she applies here.
2. There is a bag of different shaped stones. Juan sorts the similar ones in
separate bags. Write the skill she has to apply.
3. Sarah shares her experiences of mountain biking. What is the skill does she
applies?
4. Mario measured his height using tape measure. Identify the skill he applies.

BOOK TRACK
We are done recalling Branches of Science and Basic Scientific Processes. For
us to ensure the effectiveness of an experiment, read the information about Scientific
Method on your book (Science links) pp. 8-9 and accomplish the Experiment sheet
found at the end of this module.

Day 2
Good morning and Benedicite! Are you ready for today’s lesson and activities?
Let’s start!
Today, we are going to have our 1 st virtual meeting for the week. To participate in
our virtual meeting, log in to your zoom account using my PMI:

III. PROCEDURE
A. MOTIVATION
The teacher will let the students play the game 4 pics one word
wherein they will guess the word of the pictures presented. These words
are just key words of the steps of the scientific method.
The teacher will group the students into five and using zoom breakout rooms
and let them share about the experiment they did yesterday by identifying the
steps of the scientific method.
They will be given 15 minutes to talk with their groupmates and afterwards
they will share it to the class.
Discussion/Lecture
Can you define each of the steps by sharing your experience doing the
experiment?
What do you think will happen if we don’t follow one step in scientific
method?
C. CHECKING OF ACTIVITIES
The teacher will remind the students to pass the SciVid mania activity
on day 1.
D. FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT

3. Which among the choices best describe hypothesis?
a. A hypothesis is a random guess
b. A hypothesis can never be wrong
c. A hypothesis is the statement of the outcome of the experiment
d. A hypothesis is an educated guess stating what you believe will be
the result of your experiment.
9. What could be the next step after conducting the experiment and
collecting data?
a. Analyze the information or results.
b. Develop a conclusion.
7
c. Conduct another experiment.
d. Research for backup information.
IV. CLOSURE
The teacher will ask the students what word struck them most in
today’s lesson and then share it to the class. She will also ask the
students to type in their first entry in the Aralinks labeled “A moment of
Science” stating what they have learned in our lesson.
Alternative Activity
Read the information about Scientific Method in your book (Science links)
on pp. 8-9 and answer the activity below.
1. __________________________________________________________
2. __________________________________________________________
3. __________________________________________________________

B. Read and analyze the situation below. Write down the steps of scientific
method done by Jenny in each item to solve her problem.
Jenny has been working hard all summer on her tomato garden. Recently, she
noticed that insects have been eating her tomatoes. She wants to remove the
pests but she is worried about spraying them with harmful, store-bought
pesticides.
3. After one week, Jenny compares and tests the differences in her
vegetables. ___________________________
4. Jenny wonders how she can protect her plants from bugs without
harming the vegetables. ___________________________

Day 3
9
Good morning and Benedicite! It’s the 3rd day of the week! We are almost done
with our lesson. Let’s continue where we left off yesterday. Here are the activities that
you need to accomplish today.
You and your friend are walking along a beach in America on January 15, at
8:00 am. You notice a thermometer on a nearby building that reads -1°C. You also
notice that there is snow on the roof of the building and icicles hanging from the roof.
You further notice a pool of sea water in the sand near the ocean. Your friend looks at
the icicles and the pool and says, "How come the water on the roof is frozen and the
sea water is not?" You answer, "1 think that the salt in the sea water keeps it from
freezing at -1°C." You go on to say, "And I think under the same conditions, the same
thing will happen tomorrow." Your friend asks, "How can you be sure?" You answer,
"I'm going to get some fresh water and some salt water and expose them to a
temperature of-1°C and see what happens."
Questions:
1. In which statement is a prediction made?

I know that you still have questions about scientific method. Let me know by
sending me a chat! I would love to hear from you. Just click the chat box below and ask
me your question.
Performance Task
You did great on your activities! It seems like you already mastered the
topic. Now, you are going to work on a performance task about scientific method.
Use the scientific method on how to solve it. All of the steps in the scientific
method should be used. You may do it on a long bond paper handwritten or computer
typed may do. Please also attach pictures of the obserbvable event and you doing the
observation.
MODE OF SUBMISSION:
ONLINE Students: Please take a picture of your work and submit it through Aralinks.
OFFLINE students: Kindly submit your actual output together with module number 1.

Just like trees, Science has its own branches that deals with the study of
anything.
Scientific processes has 6 steps: Observing, Measuring, Classifying, Inferring,
Predicting and Communicating.
Scientific method has 8 steps: Identifying the problem, Referring to authority,
Asking an appropriate question, Developing a hypothesis, Conducting the
experiment, Keeping records, Analyzing results and Developing a conclusion.
