SCIENCE 4
1st QUARTER
SCIENTIFIC METHOD
A scientist is someone who starts with questions, so kids make great scientists! As
kids explore the natural world, they have questions just like real scientists.
Kids are young scientists that questions the world around them every day and there
is so much to learn through experimentation with simple materials.
So…. Get ready young Einsteins! As we develop practices that involve creating, gathering
data, evaluating, analyzing, and communicating, we can apply these critical thinking skills
to any situation.
Remember, you don’t need to try and solve the world’s biggest science questions! The
scientific method is all about studying and learning things right around you.
Day 1
Good morning and Benedicite! Are you ready to learn something new today? Let’s start our
lesson this morning with the following activities.
ACTIVITY ALLOTED
ACTIVITIES
NO. TIME
- Scientific processes
Since Scientific processes is already
introduced to you last school year, let us
challenge our understanding and recall the
steps. Complete the activity sheet given and
do what is asked on each step of scientific
process.
1. Observing
2. Comparing
3. Classifying
4. Measuring
5. Predicting
6. Inferring
2 Experiment Time 20 mins
Complete the activity sheet entitled: ICE RACE found at the
end of this module. Read and follow the instructions properly and
answer the questions that follow. Don’t forget to submit the activity
sheet in your E-portfolio in pdf format (online) or to attach it in your
module when your parents submit it in school on Friday (offline).

TEACHER’S GUIDE
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. Familiarize the first steps of the Scientific Method
b. Practice observing recording details on a given situation
or picture and develop hypothesis
c. Show the importance of careful observation
III. Procedure
a. Motivation/Review
The teacher will let the children observe the picture “The Scene of
the crime” wherein they will attempt to retain as many details as
possible from the provided image. The students will watch the image
for 30 seconds to make their careful observations, and then record their
responses on their daily Bell Question Response sheet.
3
Professional Level question:
d. Formative Assessment
Let us see if you really understand our topic for today the
question by recording your own observation, defining your
problem and developing hypothesis by choosing on the
three situations given.
IV. Closure
Direction: Fill in the blanks with your Observation and define your problem and develop a
hypothesis.
PICTURE OBSERVATION
There are two glasses filled with plain water. Powder was poured on glass A while
sugar was poured on glass B and they were stirred. Did it dissolve? What do you think will be the
texture of water on each glass?
OBSERVATION: (Texture of water) Compare and contrast the two glass using venn
diagram

Activity 2 Read the information on your book on page 101-104. Then,
answer the alternative activity below.
Direction: Perform the activities in each task card below. Make sure to answer the questions
in each task card.
Task 1: List down 4 reasons why we need to take care of our reproductive system.
Task 2: Most adolescent boys and girls makes fun and feel awkward or embarrassed when discussing
their reproductive parts. They call their body parts different names and more often than not, makes fun of
it. After our lesson this week, how do you feel now when discussing issues related to your body parts?
Why do you think it is important to use the correct terms to refer to the male and female reproductive
parts? Draw an emoji that describes your feelings when discussing your body parts and write an
explanation in the box at the right side.
Explanation:
Task 3: Write one thing that you have learnt and realized from our lesson this week about the
reproductive system. Explain how this will affect your life as an adolescent boy/girl. Write your
answer and explaination in the space below.

How will you rate your performance for this week? Did you learn
something new? Are you still confused? Let me know! I would like to
hear your thoughts. Go to your Aralinks account and answer the forum
activity entitled: “My Learning Experience in Science Class!”. Your
parents/guardians are also welcome to include their feedbacks in this
forum.
See you next week!
Concept of the
Concept # 1Week!
The reproductive system of both male and female are designed to ensure the continuity of
human race by producing offsprings.
The male reproductive system includes the testes, scrotum, epididymis, glands, and penis. Its
function is to produce and deliver sperms. The major sex hormone in males is testosterone.
The female reproductive system includes the ovaries, fallopian tube, uterus, cervix, and vagina.
Its function is to produce eggs, receive a sperm, nourish a fertilized egg, and give birth. The major
sex hormone in females are estrogen and progesterone.
