Beginning another Academic Year with

Online Schooling!
In my previous blog I touched upon few challenges the students come across
when it comes to online schooling and education. I did mention there is spike
in the number of Covid cases in few cities and that exactly the scenario right
now with many more states reporting a spike in cases. A mini lockdown has
already been declared in many states, educational institutes are shut and we
are back to online education. As I mentioned in my previous blog the format of
online education has to be improved and conducted in a systematic manner to
ensure the students don’t suffer.

Though I am not a subject matter expert, I would love to share my thoughts on

it.

Students should start looking at online schooling same as they attend normal
schools. Wake up early in morning, take shower, get dressed up, have breakfast
and attend the class on time. The practice of taking notes during the lectures
should be continued and assignments should be finishes on time. Ensure you
have a dedicated place which is silent yet not too comfortable to attend the
lectures without much distractions in any. This would surely help students get
into a proper frame of mind and get out of lethargies.

Ensure you clarify your doubts on time without delaying it for a later time.
Delaying things will only addup to your burden and you may end up falling
behind on assignments and will affect your academic score. If students follow
online classes with same enthusiasm that they show during In-face classes they
should be overcoming the difficulties they come across due to Online
education.

Teaching Methodology can also be improvised to ensure effective learning.

Since there is no physical interaction with students directly teachers should
increase their interaction with students besides academics they can have
personal interactions regarding their goals or simply ask them what according to
them can be done to ensure they enjoy online education. Keep the students
motivated and focused by having breakout sessions or having a quick test on the
chapter covered. This will ensure there is lot of interactions and would keep the
students interested. Use video based illustrations would assist in a big way to
improve understanding of concepts. Using Sensory experience would surely
help students in grasping the concepts faster resulting in improved results.
Lastly and more importantly teachers need to identify and support struggling
students with academic and technological assistance. Once you identify a
student who is falling behind, you can always have a counselling session with
the student to understand their challenges and help them overcome it by offering
support and assistance.

With normal schooling nowhere closer to be a possibility, a teacher should

ensure Online schooling 2.0 is much superior than the previous academic year.
It’s the duty of a teacher to ensure that their students don’t fall behind their
academic performance compared to what it was before the pandemic. Lets all
come together and ensure proper education for our future generation.
