Light Trap for Managing Insects

The majority of helpful insects are safe from light traps for controlling insects, which can

be employed for monitoring or mass trapping of detrimental insect pests in crops (particularly

parasitoids). It will prove to be a crucial component of an environmentally friendly integrated

pest management plan. The limitation of chemical pesticides, their environmental dangers, and

other terrible side effects have caused a major concept of insect management. They are

environmentally friendly with integrated pest management techniques are becoming more

significant as essential elements of pest control in order to reduce these issues. The different

insect capture and killing techniques have developed over time and are used for particular

situations.

Light traps have been particularly crucial in surveillance programs for tracking the

seasonal emergence of many insect pests. They are the most popular visual traps for agricultural

insect pests among the various insect trapping tools. Additionally, it offers data on the location,

abundance, and flying habits of insects and aids in timing the use of chemical pesticides,

biological pesticides, or the discharge of biocontrol agents.
