Health related fitness components

1. Body composition - the body’s ratio of fat mass to fat free mass. Example: muscle and bone.
( Burpees)
2. Flexibility- the ability moves muscles and joints through a full range of motion. (Forward
lunges)
3. Muscular strength- how much force your muscles can exert. In other words, how heavy
weights the can lift. (squats)
4. Muscular endurance- the ability of your muscles to sustain exercise for a long period.
( indoor cycling)
5. Cardiorespiratory endurance- the ability to perform exercises at heavy intensities for a
prolonged period of time. (swimming)

Skill related components of physical fitness

1. Balance- the ability to maintain their line of gravity within their base of support. (One leg
stance test: standing on 1 leg for 10 seconds.)
2. Coordination- the ability to use senses, such as sight and hearing, with body parts in
performing motor tasks smoothly. (Finger to nose test: repetitively touching the nose using
the index finger and then touch the outstretched finger.)
3. Agility – a rapid whole body movement with change of velocity or direction in response to a
stimulus.
4. Speed- the ability to perform a movement within a short period of time. (Sprinting test)
5. Power- the rate at which one can exert maximal force. (Vertical jump test and hop test)
6. Reaction time- the time elapsed between the stimulation and the beginning of the reaction
to it. (Drop ruler test)
