Interior Architecture and Design
Module Brief
At this stage, the students have developed their own briefs based on the first semester's two
courses, KH6002AAD Introduction to FMP and KH6003AAD Design Enquiry, at this point. The
result of the two courses combined will be the base for the new module. Students are expected
to formulate their own briefs based on what they have learned in the previous two modules.
Briefs should be detailed enough to provide a clear direction for the development of the project.
As each project is unique and different in nature, the KH6004AAD module gives the students the
opportunity to select their own project subject and location.

Interior Architecture and Design
Module Brief
+++How would you celebrate the city? What is your story/narrative? Meaning and purpose?
Consider how to be location/context specific. How would you design it in terms of current
technology? How would you integrate sustainability and other environmental factors?
Understand users and other stakeholders (secondary research only). Awareness of the brand.++
This module is the culmination of the learning experienced during the BA Interior Architecture and Design
course. For this project a student will need to revise and integrate their previous learning throughout the
course. The module involves planning and managing a negotiated major design project on a topic of the
student’s own choosing. Students will be expected to integrate research outcomes developed in module
6003AAD and design outcomes developed in module 6002AAD to form the basis of the major piece(s) of
individual Interior Architecture and Design work.
Indicative Content
Due to the individual nature of the final year project, each student will pursue a different project. Each project
will have a research element (undertaken in modules 6002AAD and 6003AAD) which informs their major
design project and design outcome. Emphasis is placed on self-management of time and resources during
project activity. Students will establish a balance of activity to include
digital image boards, branding, scenarios, aesthetics, ideation and iteration, design evaluations process,
sketchbook - design trail, model making, 3d computer modeling, rendering, animation, presentation and
communication skills, time management, design data management skills.

Additional Information
You will be taught via lectures, workshops, tutorials, and there may be elements of collaborative and group
work.
You will find full details of how these Learning Outcomes will be assessed by this assignment in the marking rubric
at the end of this brief. You should read this as it explains how submitted work achieves certain grades. It will be
useful in preparing your assignment as well as in understanding your feedback.
Marking of this module will be carried out by course staff and moderated by several staff members. You will
receive verbal feedback at formative assessment points and written feedback and mark at the summative
assessment point.
We want you to do your best in each assessment. However, we know that sometimes events happen that
are either beyond your control or not easy to predict which mean that you will not be able to submit your
coursework by the deadline. If this happens, you can apply for an extension to your assessment deadline. If
you need longer than the maximum two-week extension, you can apply for a deferral, which takes you to
the next assessment period. You must apply for an extension or a deferral before the assignment deadline
given as part of the assessment instructions. Late requests are rejected.
Information about the process and what is/is not considered can be found on our policy website page
(https://tkh.edu.eg/policies/) and the ‘Extenuating circumstances policy’. Please note that your module
teachers are unable to give extensions.

Module Brief
Late or non-submission
If your assignment is submitted online please do not leave it until the last minute to submit. Aim to submit
several hours prior the deadline, in case you have any technical problems submitting. If you fail to submit
work for the module or submit an assessed piece of work late without an agreed extension, you will receive
a mark of 0% for that piece of work, even if it is only a few minutes late. You will however be eligible for a re-
sit attempt at the next available assessment opportunity where, if you pass, your mark will be capped at 40%
If you fail the resit assignment, or do not hand in any submission, you are allowed one further resit attempt
at the assignment. After a second failed/non-submitted resit attempt you will have failed the module. This
may have an impact on your ability to progress on your course and/or on your final marks for your degree.
Academic Misconduct
Academic misconduct covers any action by a student to gain unfair advantage (e.g. extra marks) for
her/himself, or for another student, in their assessed work. It not only damages your personal reputation,
but also the reputation of the entire university, and it will not be tolerated at The Knowledge Hub
Universities. There are severe penalties for students who are found guilty of academic misconduct ranging
from obtaining a mark of 0% for the piece of work concerned, through to exclusion from the University.
Many modules require you to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the work of others (artists,
makers, practitioners, academics, designers, performers, etc.). It is vital that you make it absolutely clear
when you are using work from other sources, and that you reference it clearly and correctly. If you are unsure
how to reference, please speak to a tutor for clarification.
For full details of what constitutes academic dishonesty and how to avoid it, please see the section in the
Student Handbook, available on Moodle and the TKH policy web pages.
Assessment Criteria
There are standard University Assessment criteria that you can use to assist with understanding the mark
you receive for this assignment. You can find these here. The criteria that are specific to this assignment are
as follows:
