DATA: Girl. Age: 10.0 years. Normal transverse skeletal discrepancy.
Family history: Class III (mother), Overbite (mother and brother), and adult chronic periodontal
disease (Father)
Personal background: Mixed breathing. Adenoidectomy at 5 years. Previous treatment with rapid
maxillary expansion at 7 years, extraction of temporary canines and functional rehabilitation.
Retention with Anterior Open Bite Plate. Proper oral hygiene.
Examination: Mixed breathing. Mild lip incompetence at rest, contracture of the chin during lip
closure. Medium periodontal biotype.
Occlusion at 7 years, before treatment with skeletal expansion and Functional Rehabilitation.
