I have chosen my daily routine for making coffee as the process for this exercise.

The template I will use for this process map is the basic flowchart template.
Here is the process map for making coffee:

START

Fill the kettle with water

Turn on the kettle

While waiting for the water

to boil, grind coffee beans

Place the filter in the coffee

maker

Add the ground coffee to

the filter

Pour hot water into the

coffee maker

Turn on the coffee maker

Wait for the coffee to brew

Pour coffee into a cup

Add milk and/or sugar

(optional)

Stir the coffee

END

Wastes and Process Improvement Opportunities:

Wastes:
 Waiting for the water to boil
 Standing idle while the coffee is brewing
Process Improvement Opportunities:

 Pre-measuring coffee grounds and storing them in individual packets to save time

 Using an electric kettle to boil water faster

 Purchasing a coffee maker with a timer to brew coffee automatically at a set time

By identifying waste and process improvement opportunities, we can streamline the process
and make it more efficient.
By implementing some of the suggestions above, we can reduce wait times and make the
process of making coffee faster and more convenient.
