Additional Information

Tom Vietri
"I was born in 1997, raised in a village in rural West Yorkshire. My family were not
particularly musical, but we are all big music lovers. My parents introduced me to
artists like Prince, Fleetwood Mac, and Simon & Garfunkel (to name a few), with my
grandad introducing me to The Beatles.

I started to become interested in playing music when I reached secondary school,

after playing Guitar Hero: Rock the 80s (very cool I know). I got my first guitar and
joined a band with some friends from school. My tastes evolved and so did my
interests, moving from guitar to drums when I was 15. This felt much more
comfortable, and I had a great drum teacher who exposed me to all types of
drumming, from Latin to jazz.

I played in various bands throughout school and went looking for other musicians
at university through the Band Society Facebook group. That is where I found Joe
and Alexi, and eventually Finn.

For me, I look forward to both the studio and playing live. To hear a song, evolve
from a voice note to a finished track is extremely rewarding, even though the
recording process tends to be high pressure! I also like that it gives us something
tangible, it is like a snapshot of our creative lives at a certain point in time. When I
hear A Jet’s Pink Trail, I do not hear the mistakes and shortcomings in the
recording (there are a lot), I remember my time at university and how excited we
were to record our first song.

Alongside music, I work full time as a research and development engineer,

designing and testing surgical instruments and implants. I studied this at uni and so
far, it is interesting, though I would be lying if I said it gives me the same highs as
music does!"

Joe Bolton

Where do you come from?

I come from Berkshire and have lived here for my whole life, though I have a lot of
Yorkshire and Northern roots in my family.

Where did your music passion come from?

To be honest with you I cannot remember a time when I was not passionate about
music - it is a part of who I am. My mum was a singer and was a huge fan of the 60s
stuff like The Beatles and Elvis, and my dad is also a huge fan of music and always
had artists like Bruce Springsteen, Led Zeppelin, and Steve Earle on. So, it is fair to
say that I was surrounded by great music from a youthful age. I picked up a guitar
when I was 10 and have not looked back really. Getting good at the guitar has given
me a lot of opportunities and moments that I would call the best times of my life so
far.

What would you be doing if you were not doing music?

I have a degree in Maths and Music so I guess you could say something Science
related, an engineer or something. Nothing compares to music for me though, so it
was the only option.

What makes you want to get into the industry?

The love of playing music, the feeling of getting better at the craft, the camaraderie
with the bandmates. You do not go into this industry for the money, because firstly
there is hardly any money in it, and secondly that is not the point of what music is. Artists
who go into it to make money are not artists.
