The Band

A Documentary
Deveopment in my Ideas
My first initial ideas were based around doing a narrative
music video, but I found it hard to generate clever ideas
with an actual motive behind them.
I then did some focus groups with my peers and thought
about interesting people that I knew I could produce a
production on.
I first thought of doing an educational documentary on the
NHS workers and the stigma surrounding stress.
From this I came across my friend from London who started
up a band in 2016 that are still exceeding. This is where
I made the decision to create a documentary, as it is a new
experience for me and a good opportunity to dive into the
industry and the growth in a band.
Final Idea Outline
A Documentary based on an up-
coming band based in the UK. It will
involve the importance of the growing
music industry; I will be following a
band called Ten Hands High and
their journey as a band and into the
industry.
Issues I will face...
 Band members availability when interviewing them
because they are all busy people.

 Equipment, for sectors in the production like the interview,

with having the correct lighting for example.

 Trying to find the correct information that’s relevant to my

production in my research.

In general, I will need to look over the timings and

communications within my production.
What will I challenge myself on?
When producing the production, I will be challenged in
many different aspects.
I am wanting to develop my camera work and most
importantly my editing skills. By doing a documentary it
will help me expand on these skills.

I will also have to learn good communication skills on

updating the band with the brief and planning things such
as test shoots or interviews I will need to film.
Why should this be produced?
My Documentary should be produced because it will give my
audience a better understanding into the music industry.

Looking into the band from a personal perspective will also

help convey an emotional reaction from my viewers, this then
structures the narrative of the production giving it that personal
aspect.

This is also beneficial to not only me but also the band, helping
them expand by sharing their story.
