● Information on client / competition

The competition that I've selected to enter my music video into is the BeCreative festival. I
have chosen this competition as I think it suits my capabilities and challenges when
making a music video and also it is a realistic target to be able to win this competition and
also will help to gain more exposure to the music video for more people to enjoy. The
BeCreative festival has some requirements when producing the music video such as your
target audience needing to be either 18+ niche or Pg Mainstream and other requirements
to the music video such as it needing to have a parallel story and also it needing to be a
strong narrative which suited my final idea nicely and seemed like exciting and
challenging requirements that i looking forward to meeting. The rules and regulations that
are on the website are shown below. This is the 4th year of the competition and they help
give a platform to 2nd year cmp students to come up with creative productions and

● Outline of final idea

This idea starts of setting the scene with a man in his 50s that has dementia and has
certain reminders in his house that reflect on his life and help him remember many
different things but his main joy and love that he remembers is his ballroom dancing and
music allows him to really remember and take himself back to when he was young, he
puts his headphones on and starts to remember his old routines of putting on his dancing
shoes and remembering his dancing sequences he used to do. The main part starts when
he is closely remembering the music he has in his headphones and then the image he is
looking at relates to the song and the picture comes to life. This will be shown with many
different flashbacks going back and forth in the production creating a parallel story of his
old dancing days and how he still remembers them even though he has dementia. It will
also include photos that then come to life during the flashbacks like moments of when
they won trophies and other happy times and the ending will expand on the time they
won the trophy and the happiness they felt during that time.

● Your target audience

My target audience that i have selected to target my music video towards will be Pg
Mainstream, i felt that out of the options provided Pg mainstream was much more suited
to my creative side and narratives that i had idea generated but also i think it will be much
easier for me to gain information on my target audience and to also be able to get a
better understanding of what they want to see and then therefore be able to adapt my
music video narrative now. I will be able to send out things such as surveys, provide
interview for me to get a better understanding on my target audience, analyse these
videos and find out what they would like to see within the music video also focus groups
will be easy to organise due to the pg mainstream being targeted to almost anyone. I
Brief 2

think that this target audience will be able to understand my music video narrative better
than any other as it involves actors of all ages and has features within the narrative that
everyone could relate to and has that emotion yet wholesome feel about the music video
and hopefully i will be able to fulfil this emotional connection with this target audience. I
think that the narrative will grab the audience's attention straight away and engage them
with the characters to make them feel that emotional connection and for the audience to
feel as if they are going through the flashback and reminiscing the good old times with a
character with dementia, this being another factor in deciding are target audience and
feel it has a bit of everything for everyone associated with the Pg Mainstream target
audience. A Pg mainstream audience all communicate with each other through all forms
of conversation whether it be digital or in person so i hope to make a production that will
be talked about and be given exposure from shares and more on social media as this
target audience use social media a lot as social media is a very mainstream thing
nowadays. A lot of the features within this music video is very mainstream currently with
nostalgia being very big currently and my song choice being a throwback plus also the
colour grading within the flashbacks and the clothing of the actors seems very fitting for
this target audience of Pg mainstream, shows such as stranger things have used nostalgic
songs like Running up that hill by Kate Bush being one of the songs they chose as it has a
nostalgic elements to the song and the way to tell nostalgia is becoming very popular
and mainstream at the moment is when that stranger things episode was released that
song ended up being in the top 10 in the music charts that week highlighting how
mainstream nostalgia is becoming at the moment so hopefully taking inspiration from
examples like this will help my music video become successful and with this target
audience i think this could become pretty achievable and suited to them.

● Legal and ethical issues

- For my production of I'm still standing by Elton John music video there is nothing much
to mention when it comes to the legal and ethics issues, my production will have
symptoms and signs of dementia in the main character and that is the main focus when it
comes to the music video so possible I could add a warning at the start about the music
video involving dementia however from research I don't think this will be necessary and
warrant a warning being needed before the music video starts.
When it comes to the music that is being used in the music video I will put links in the
description to direct the audience to the actual songs music video but also to give credit
to the songwriter and the company that produced the song, credits to everyone involved
will also be put in the description to then allow me to post my version of a music video to
this song and to avoid copyright issues.
Lastly I will add confirmation forms for the actors agreement on being perfectly fine to
film with me and also agreeing for this music video to be able to be uploaded to my
YouTube to gain exposure for all parties including the actors which names and links will
be added to the description if they wish for it to be (especially the dancers being used)
