Tyler Bilawchuk Good Copy of Proposal December.

Name of student: Tyler Bilawchuk Date: Thursday, December.6 ,2023

Teacher: Mr. Green Block: A
Capstone strand I have chosen: Project
Proposed title for my project proposal: My project is teaching people through
online YouTube videos the basics of guitar.
My inquiry question is: How can I instruct people who have never played the
guitar the basics in a very understandable and uncomplicated way?
Rationale/context: Investigating this topic will help me provide for my audiences
better and more efficiently. It will make it easier for people to learn while making
it more engaging, making others engaged in learning. This interests me because I
can think creatively and put my knowledge to the test of how I can provide for
others with my learning. I really enjoy this because I love to see others learn new
topics and I am deeply passionate about music.
Background: I have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old, and I have had
different guitar teachers for 5 years. I have also joined concert bands in school
and jazz bands and other bands for extracurricular activities expanding my
knowledge in playing with others and theory. I have also taught some friends the
basics of guitar guiding them through the very first steps.
Career connections: This will help me with my side career of doing music online
whether that being creating music, playing, teaching, or just experimenting with
theory. It will help me have the basic building block of starting my side career
then later I can extend into different musical ideas. This is one of my great
passions that I would like to pursue for a side hustle.
Interdisciplinary and core competencies connections: The core competencies I will
use for this capstone project are Creative thinking, Critical thinking, Personal
Awareness and Responsibility and communication. I will use creative thinking by
producing original concepts with unique thoughts for my audience. I apply this by
creating my own original video, using my knowledge, and making it my way. I also
must gather information and interpret it in a way using my creativity to make my
audience understand it clearly. I will use critical thinking skills by finding out how I
will make my videos unique and easy to follow for my audience, making it an
enjoyable learning experience. I do this by seeing what other YouTube videos
have and how I can do it in my own original way. I will also use communication for
my audiences to understand my work. I will also try my best to make sure I do not
miss any steps so my audiences can understand everything without being
confused. I will also provide every bit of information possible to communicate to
my audiences, making them understand clearly. I will also use personal
responsibility for making sure I am on top of my work. I will do this by picking days
I have time to work for my capstone and working on it.
Capstone presentations medium: YouTube Channel: I will build my own YouTube
channel and have different videos showing the basics and different techniques of
guitar. I will present my capstone with YouTube to my audience. There are so
many different topics to cover so I will break it down into two YouTube videos
getting the main aspects of understanding guitar. I will still have my process of
how I would build other videos on my website but cover the main two on
YouTube.
Description of my Capstone project: For my capstone project I will have to
determine who my target audience is and what they require. After realizing who
my target audience is I will focus on a single element of playing the guitar, for
example how to just hold the guitar and the proper way and how to place your
fingers when playing. After teaching those basics I can focus on teaching other
topics such as reading simple tabs and scales. I will also make sure to have my
equipment ready like my recording device, tripod, and my editing software. I must
have a quiet place to record with a good background image not distracting my
viewers. I will also have to be patient with my work and make sure to have a
script (key pointers summarized) to plan out what I am going to talk about in each
video. I will also have to make sure to engage with my viewers and here their
feedback to further improve in what they want to learn. I will try my best to make
my videos clear as possible and easy to understand by making my point noticeably
clear and simple. I will include relevant key words for my viewers to understand
new concepts. I can also use other social media to further promote my channel. I
will use YouTube to post my content and make sure my channel is up to date
being published. I also will make my channel have a clear guitar theme to it
making a YouTube description and making sure I have a profile image and good
YouTube video titles. I will also gather information from sources and use my own
knowledge and creativity to demonstrate it to my audience.
Resouces/technology/skills: I will need my creativity skills for my ideas. I will also
need my guitar and all my different utilities for my YouTube videos. These utilities
will include my phone, tripod, guitars (acoustic and electric), tuners, straps, and
guitar pics. I will also need my amplifier for my guitar and my stool for me to
present for my YouTube videos. I will also be using my phone and computer to
help me edit my YouTube profile and videos trimming them when necessary and
adding pictures to help my audiences.
Mentors/community connections: My mentor for this capstone will be my guitar
teacher. He will help me if I need any suggestions, ideas or what I could improve
on with my YouTube channel. I can also see the internet for what content is
already out there and how I can make my channel unique. Most of my
information will be from online sources listed in my evidence page in my
capstone, guiding me if I get lost or do not understand something.
Project limitations: Some obstacles on my journey could be thinking of unique
ideas and where to start. I will overcome this by making sure I have a plan and I
am consistent with my work. Another obstacle is having time to complete my
project and finding time to work on it. I will do this by making sure I make time
and remember days when I can work on my capstone.
Other considerations: I do not have any.
