Fast-spreading DENGUE virus

An estimated report since the entry of the year 2019, in the province of
Catanduanes revealed that almost one-fourth of its population has been infected
by the fastest-spreading disease through the bite of the female mosquito (Aedes
aegypti).
The mosquito becomes infected when it takes the blood of a person infected by
the virus. After a week, the mosquito can then transmit the virus while biting a
healthy person. It is how fast the disease is transmitted.
As of July 29, 2019, the case of dengue has increased to almost one thousand. San
Andres holds the highest number that ranges to 365 followed by Virac 272, Viga
111, Caramoran 86, Bato 59, San Miguel 27, Gigmoto 20, Bagamanoc 17,
Panganiban 14, Pandan and Baras has the least which is 13.
DOH launched a Clean-up drive in every school and encourage to follow 4s in
preventing dengue disease. 4s stands for Search and destroy mosquito-breeding
sites. Yellow fever mosquito breeds in cool places and clean water. Self-protection
measures such as wearing long sleeve drees. Seek early consultation and Support
fogging in hotspot areas. On the other hand, fogging is not always necessary
because it can’t really kill mosquito but would just led mosquito to hide. Some
school advice their students to wear a long-sleeve shirt as precaution.
Mild dengue fever causes high fever, rash, and muscle and joint pain. The severe
form of dengue fever, also called the dengue hemorrhagic fever, can cause severe
bleeding, a sudden drop in blood pressure and death.
Panganiban NHS student/ Richard Tubianosa said in an interview “I experienced
vomiting, high fever, and unbearable headache, but I ignore it because we thought
it was only a normal fever until the doctor diagnosed that it is a dengue fever”.
As of now, there is no medicine that can cure dengue patients are advised to take
paracetamol as a pain reliever. They should always stay well-hydrated and get
plenty of rest. Severe dengue may lead to shock, bleeding, and damage to organs.
