Despite deterrent

Just like a car that would encounter many hurdles in the midst of the trip, Warren
Lagunero, 19 proves that we are the driver of our own life. We are the one that navigates
it. And struggles would never sway him.

Every day he walks 4.5 kilometers going to school and back home. He has been doing this for
six years now. This doesn’t stop him from dreaming. He is a consistent honor student and
an aspiring writer.

He uses to be a timid student who doesn’t have confidence in everything, but there are
people who believe and encourages him.

As his coach Avegail Mae Teope would always say, “Mataba ang payo ning akin na ini”.

Determined

He is a Science and Health writer in the official publication in Filipino, “ANG PLUMA”. He
has won for two consecutive years in DSSPC since last year. And now, an RSSPC qualifier for
he got 2nd place in this year’s competition.

The kind of student that wouldn’t ask for money from his parents. He believes that if he
needs money, he should earn it. Maybe his hard-earned money during the competition is one
of his lucky charms.

During his 8th grade, Sir Louie T. Sicio encouraged him to join the DSSPC. At first, he was
hesitant because he is aware that he knows little about technological advancement
nonetheless if it was discussed by the teacher or heard from others. He doesn’t even have a
Facebook or any social media account. He taught that he is outdated and could do less.

“Mae ako makapaniwala na nagkaikan ako achievement na arog ninto”, Warren said.

Warren would never forget this learning from his mentor, “If you will try and love writing,
the opportunity will also love you. And now, he is a graduating student who would bring in
him the learnings, joys, and trials he had faced. Embrace triumph in the next chapter of his
life. Becomes an inspiration to others that just like driving, always keep track and dream on.
